It now seems definite that James Bond will drive the new Aston Martin V8 Vantage in Casino Royale.

The new Aston Martin has so far been seen in shades of grey, black, navy and bright yellow. So which of these shades should Bond be seen in?

Is it the traditional Silver Birch (DB5), Cumberland Grey (V8 Vantage in TLD),Tungsten Silver (the Vanquish in DAD), Tungsten (the dark grey seen on the new Aston Martin), the yellow as seen at the car's launch, or should it be another colour entirely?

Pink.

Seriously...it takes a secure man to drive a pink car.

Really, though, silver. Why cheat tradition?

I sincerely hope this is a relevant question and we'll actually be able to see the car this time ....

Most certainly yellow. With green 'go fast' stripes.

Stick to the Silver Birch.

If they did want to go with something else, British Racing Green (Bond's Bentley was in ROH), although AM does offer a few variations of a dark grey that look fantastic.

Failing any of that, have the "Pimp My Ride" boys from MTV invade Q Branch and "trick it out Old School" :)

Greyish to silverish, same color, similar color we've seen all the astons in james bond films, they really don't look the same in any other color.

Dark blue.

My main choice is no car at all though.

I'm seeing a bicycle like Mark Wahlberg in I Heart Huckabees.

My main choice is no car at all though.

Given that Bond crashing his Bentley is a key scene in the novel, how can you say that? You might argue that the car should be a Bentley, whether the new Bentley Continental GT or the original 4 1/2 litre is perhaps a moot point, but no car at all? I'm staggered at such a thought.

Im bored of having cars all the time. Connery only had one (DB5) and Moore too (LOTUS). And Brosnan 4! There has always been cars chases in Bond films but having his own car is became too absured.

Good point. But I can also understand people getting tired of the gadget laden cars (especially after the last one). But nobody says that it has to be like that. A hidden compartment for a gun, but that should be all. Otherwise just an "ordinary" sportscar.

Battleship Grey... not sure how it would look on a modern car.
Silverish for tarditionalists. Normaly, I'm mostly for that, but this time I would opt for a change, if only to make the cars a bit more distinguishable. British Racing Green has my vote.

I think they should go with the color it was in The Living Daylights.

I believe we are on the same page, my friend. I feel, although Bond is known to drive a fancy gadget packed car, it becomes less special if he gets a new one in each film. Certainly it must be the promotional value that PB has had Aston Martins and BMWs in each film, but come on! Where's the originality in the gadgets? However, since that is the chosen path of Casino Royale (yawn), I'd go with a silver. I said battleship grey earlier (I think it was Fleming's colour), but now I'll go with silver.

I'm simply exhausted from seeing them in the Bond films. Talk about becoming too formulaic! It seems now that with each new Bond comes the question of which new car. :)!

Why does Bond have to have a car? Look at Moonraker: no car, he used a boat instead for a good chase sequence in the later part of the movie. Look at Octopussy: no car, instead we had foot races, Tuk-Tuks, trains, etc...it worked.

I just want a break from the Bond cars because we've had them so often lately.

Yeah well for an adaptation of Casino Royale there better be a car chase. That was the only "action" moment in the entire novel really. IMHO I'd much rather have a car chase with the Aston Martin DB5 a la GoldenEye. Why not something simple? Kinda getting tired of every car having a missile attached to it.

Besides the DB5 chase in the beginning, GoldenEye didn't have a car chase either at least with the car Q gave him. I actually liked the fact that Q gave him a car/gadget explained it and Bond never had to use it, at least in the way he would typical do so. I think that's too formulatic. To say ok.. here's gadget A, B, and C, and Bond uses them all because the perfect situation came up when it could be used. Tomorrow Never Dies for example when the BMW logo comes up to cut a wire. What were the odds that the logo saw thingy would be high/low enough to hit that wire exactly?

Precisely re the GoldenEye bit. I've grown to like it more as it is.

And with Casino Royale, we've got a car, so the bets are almost 200% I'd say you'll get the chase. Or something like it...whatever they'll do with the car this time.

I agree with keeping it simple. IMHO the car crash is a pivotal 'action' sequence in Casino Royale and it doesn't feaure any gadgets. As an Aston Martin aficionado I think the car should speak for itself and not be overwhelmed with gadgets. Problem is, will Aston Martin be pleased to see an Aston Martin driven off the road by any other car?

Although I think Bond should drive the Cadillac concept car, I love the Aston Martin V8 Vantage, which should be navy blue or just traditional silver birch

James Bond in a Cadillac! Never! Felix Leiter did have a Studillac (A Studebaker with a Cadillac engine) in Diamonds Are Forever though.

Whatever car he drives it should be magenta in colour!

No, as I think Fleming said, it should be "elephant's breath grey"!

Seriously, why fix it if it ain't broke. Silver birch all the way!

I hope they didn't see Goldfinger, then! Admittedly it drove itself off the road, but the driver didn't know that!

Personally I don't think the car crash is that essential- it's just Bond being captured which we've seen in many movies. If it had to be a direct update of the novel Bond should drive a twenty year old, heavy, performance British luxury car which isn't worth very much now. I'd say something like a late 80's spoilered-up Jaguar XJR-S or something.

My money's on a tungsten AM V8 Vantage, still wish they'd called it the DB8 though. I like the idea of Bond in a car called deviate!

If not a Cadillac (which of course I know will never happen) then they should either stick with the silver aston or bring the "Silver Beast" of literary fame to the movie screen

Depends on who the geniuses at EON decide on to play the part:

If it's Clive Owen, it should be :) brown

If it's Jack Davenport it should be fairy pink

If it's Orlando Bloom it should be two-tone - :) brown AND fairy pink
