I just watched her LTK video on my DVD of the film (I bought the '99 version because, for some reason, it was $5 at Wal-Mart last month. Along with the latest 1-disc Thunderball - which was great since they're both in the same volume of special edition boxes. I need to go check to see if they have others.). Anyhoo. Sorry. I found the video completely, hilariously dated and VERY low-budge. And the copy looked terrible. Is it that bad on the Blu-Ray or latest special edition?

Curious, that, considering it was directed by Daniel Kleinman...I found the video completely, hilariously dated and VERY low-budget.

I wouldn't admit liking an A-Ha song amongst my friends, but the song really takes me back to my 11 year old self in '87 and a long-awaited trip to the movies to see Dalton as the man.

Both are brilliant. But Licence To Kill is my favorite Bond song.

I love both of them, I voted for a-ha though.

I also voted for a-ha, although I'm not crazy about their band name; why don't they use a capital A? Dalton also has some of the best ending credits songs IMO.

I think they're Swedish or something, maybe that has something to do with it. I like a-ha's song much more than Gladys Knight's. I do agree on the end credits songs. If You Asked Me Too is one of the best songs of the entire series.

a-ha for me - a great little tune, but shouldn't have been used to try boost the previous success of 'A View To A Kill' by Duran Duran with the 80s boy band.
'Licence To Kill' is alright, but god it goes on too long for me and isn't a great match for what I would think for the film's tone.

Agreed on that bit. Strangely, I think Another Way to Die would work better to match the tone of the film. Even though, if would probably give it a worse reputation that it already has.

Yeah it is very long, but I think it is a very sexy song in the beginning lol.

Agreed. How on earth they could go with a love ballad for a song titled Licence To Kill in a movie about revenge is beyond me. They should have done an aggressive, pulse-pounding rock song a la You Know My Name. That would have been a good match especially if they could have hired someone like Bon Jovi or Van Halen to do the song.

I voted for Gladys, I think it's a great song and exellent performed by her.
I realy hated aha with their plastic look and sound. When the song was released in 1987 I thought it was the most terrible Bondsong I had ever heard.... and I still think it's one of the worst, together with Madge's DAD and Another Way to die from that White guy.

I voted for LTK, even though I love TLD theme as well.

LTK.
I like TLD - but I always thought that the chorus is weak (aaaaaaaah - the living daylights, dadada-da-da). The verses are great, and I love the fact that it´s basically John Barry´s main theme. But the problems he had with a-ha during the writing of this song seem to me very obvious.
LTK, on the other hand, borrows heavily from GOLDFINGER but still manages to be a classic Bond ballad which reaches a wonderful crescendo, beautifully and very effectively orchestrated and produced. A pity that that melody was not used in the score.
