I've just started watching the Bonds in order again, and for extra enjoyment I've decided to count the kills as I go along.

It was easy for Dr No on Wednesday night...

- Bond shoots Professor Dent
- Bond stabs henchman in river
- Bond stangles technician in lair
- Bond induces Dr No into acid death

For From Russia With Love last night though I found the going tougher, thanks largely to the scenes at the Gyspy camp and when Morzeny attacks with his flotilla. So, the questions I ask your opinion of are these (for now)...

How many people does Bond shoot at the gypsy camp, in your opinion?
Also in your opinion, how many men die as a result of Bond setting the gas cans alight at sea? For my score I'm going to take the average of what you all say. I personally counted 4 at the gypsy count, and it's hard to decide with the gas can thing.

Didn't that henchman land on solid ground and presumably survive?

There's an old, old thread about this some where, along with an old mainpager. Not sure if a final count was ever determined.

It's current up to TWINE, not sure if the body count for DAD was ever tabulated here (probably pretty high, it being a Brosnan Bond film and all). :)

Problem is, as Jim stated in that thread, with a lot of the jump-cut editing in the early films it's hard to see who is dead and who just has "a flesh wound".

I'll (attempt) to calculate Die Another Day sometime in the next few days, give me something slightly productive to do.

So, the total is 584 before DAD?

[mra]Give or take a couple hundred. :)

Tomorrow Never Dies, for instance, I counted 92, Jim count 35 so we averaged it at 62.5. But with Estimates and Questionables the TND count might really be as much as 180+.

Of course if you add in mine it starts looking rather disturbing so maybe we should discount those...:)

Yeah, we probably don't want all the details. It's just...well, let's just say it's rather unsettling from what I gather. :)

I'm going to find it interesting to see if my total is similar (depending on certain interpretations of action scenes along the way). I'm going with the chap who said 17 in FRWL, btw. So, my count is at 21 going into GF tonight.
