There have been plenty of comparisons to Harry Potter when talking of young Bond. I have yet to read the book, but still think the Potter series was a big motivator behind it. To some people this is good. What I want to know is who likes Harry Potter and who is interested in Young Bond? Is there some kind of correlation? I personally can not stand Harry Potter and am befuddled by all the adults who seem to enjoy it so. So I look at the new series with trepidation.

Do you like Harry Potter?

Do you like Young Bond?

I read some of the Potter books when I was younger. They are well written and crafted for the target audience. I enjoyed SilverFin more than I thought I would, and recommend it (if merely to see how it compares to the other novels) to Bond fans.

I've never read a Potter book, and I found the first movie interminably dull.

I liked SilverFin. Expect I'll like the second book even more.

Same here. No interest in Potter. Not really sure where I stand on Young Bond. Quite enjoyed "Silverfin" as a curio, but then again it certainly isn't a worthy prequel to the works of Fleming in my eyes (I won't be putting it and its sequels before "Casino Royale" and the other Flemings on my bookshelf; in fact, I'm not sure I'll even bother with any more Higson Young Bond books). Still, I'm not particularly into the continuation novels - I only like "Colonel Sun" and a couple of the Bensons.

My boys like Harry Potter.
My boys like James Bond.

(This isn't a song, by the way)

They haven't expressed any interest in Young Bond, though. I'm still the only person in our house to have read it. Just guess it isn't their thing.

Well I guess someone has to come to the defense of Harry Potter. I love the books and think the movies have done a good job in adapting them. Each film is better then the last as is the same with the books. One thing that can be said about the Harry Potter whether you like them or not, is that they have ignited chidren's interest in wanting to read for pleasure and that is an amazing thing. Hopefully Silverfin will interest both children, adults and Bond fans. I haven't read Silverfin so I can't comment, but I am looking forward to it. So there's my two cents on Harry Potter and Young Bond. I'm sure Righty is not happy with me.

I attempted to read Harry Potter and the Sorceror's Stone several years ago. I thought it was too slow, and too boring and gave up on them. I've saw bits of the movie in my 8th grade study hall, but unless Robbie Coltrane or John Rhys Davies was in the scene, I payed no attention.

I haven't read Young Bond yet (Just gonna wait for the US release), so it's unfair for me to comment on it at this point.
