Paul McCartney sounded great! My parents also really enjoyed the half-time show, and my dad seemed to be under the impression that the song "Live and Let Die" was done before the movie! I soon corrected him on that! :) I really like the half time show, a bit tamer than last years (people made such a big fuss over that stupid wardrobe malfunction, where you really couldn't see anything!). However my favorite half time show was Super Bowl XXXV, with my all time favorite band, Aerosmith headlining. But I was not pleased that they allowed NSYNC and Britney Spears to join in on "Walk this Way" and tarnish a classic! :)

That's exactly why a man like McCartney is appropriate for the halftime show. His music is popular with at least four generations of people, whereas I seriously doubt a Britney Spears/NSYNC duet is going to please a majority of the SuperBowl audience.

The decision to have McCartney in the half time show has been described as: "plain" and "overly conservative" (sounds like Eagle play calling during most games :) ) but "very entertaining nonetheless".

Still prefer Macca to Janet Jackson, nipple or no nipple.

I've thrown Paul's live superbowl performance online in case anyone wants to download them. There are some pictures too.

Thanks Jordan! So what was everyone's favorite of the four? Mine was Live And Let Die, followed closely by Drive My Car.

"Drive My Car" was probably the best of the four songs he did. His voice just wasn't up to par at the Superbowl and the rough nature of his voice worked better on "Drive My Car" than any of the others. Not that one can plan a "bad voice day" but he would have been better off singing songs like "Helter Skelter", "I'm Down" or the new song "Whole Life" from the 46664 album. But it was a pretty much a guarantee the "Live and Let Die" was going to be in the set because of the usually impressive production behind the number. "Hey Jude" was another guarantee because it's one in which the audience can get involved.

In case anyone is interested in the song "Whole Life" which I keep mentioning at every opportunity you can find more information on it at the bottomw of this website: http://46664.tiscali.com/ You have to have iTunes and, I believe, the .99 for the song goes to Nelson Mandela's charity. I'd be interested to hear what other people have to say about the track.

McCartney earned 2,500 pounds per second for Super Bowl appearance!

[World News]: London, Feb 8: Sir Paul McCartney was promised 1.8million pounds for his 12-minute half-time appearance at America's greatest sporting event, the Superbowl, which equals to 150,000 pounds a minute or 2,500 pounds a second.

According to Daily Mail, McCartney performed in Jacksonville, Florida, in front of an estimated TV audience of one billion. The songs included the Beatles songs Drive My Car, Get Back and Hey Jude, plus his Bond theme song Live and Let Die.
