I know that there's a plethora of Bond fan fiction around, but can somebody point me to stories set in the "classic" Fleming era (50s/60s)? Thanks.

The best period piece I've read has been Jacques I. M. Stewart's Just Another Kill here at CBn. I would also highly recommend the works of Russ Sidor and Andrew Hixon.

I'm with Clink in recommending Just Another Kill. It's very Flemingesque as well. :)

(Perhaps this topic should be moved to the FanFiction Discussion?)

No problem, wattenscheid09. It's just a little note for the moderators. :)

Enjoy the fanfiction on CBn... it's pretty good stuff. :)

Well, my books sucks IMO, (I wrote it in less than two weeks!) but it's set in the 1960's, early. And it's supposed to be a series with S.P.E.C.T.R.E., check it out (Now or Never). Hope you don't hate it :)

Have you posted it yet Gold?
I think it will be good. It is good to read some golden oldie Bond stories sometimes. Will try to write a short story that takes place in the sixties. My novel "Bright Fire" takes place in 2002 in original version and in the edited and the extended version 2004.

Hi Wattenscheid09 - I second Jim's Just Another Kill. Very Flemingesque, very entertaining and true to the '50s/'60s vibe. If you fancy a modern Bond fan fic story, then Clinkeroo's Woman Under Glass is outstanding. Zing! and Joyce Carrington are also fine fan fic writers. CBn is lucky to have their tales. :)

When I write 007 fan-fiction, I always have the late '50's, early '60's in mind as far as when they are taking place. I've always been quite stringent in keeping Bond novels seperate from Bond movies - perhaps that is why I dislike Benson's novels so much. They are too grounded in the EON universe. Gardner's Bond, for the most part, was an '80's man, and as a child of the 80's I can easily relate to that decade. But Bond just 'seems right' being set back in the time of Fleming. I'm not sexist, but I like to have my M be a grouchy, steely-eyed old Navy boy and not Judi Dench. The three stories I have posted in the fan-fiction section right now can all be considered to be in the time that Fleming was writing his 007 novels.

P.S. Thanks for the compliment, Hitch!

"But Bond just 'seems right' being set back in the time of Fleming."

Spot on, Zing. One sentence to end all sentences. Couldn't agree more.

That's why a Tarantino Retro Casino Royale never seemed so wrong to me. Sigh, well, it's over now. We'll have another overblown 2006 explosion-riddled bombast-Bond with, oh yeah, 5 minutes in a Casino. Anyway, Campbell has done his Casino scene in Goldeneye, so why bother? Oh, wait, that's probably why they gave him the gig. I know, wrong thread.

Goldeneye, I read the first three chapters. Loved it, it was great a little short chapters but a great story. I usually doesn't like fan fics that takes place in the movie universe but this was great. Keep it up!
