I'll also add that I noticed the regular Encore premium cable netword is having a Bond marathon all day Saturday.

Unfortunately, I don't have Encore anymore. But on the upside, I do have these in widescreen DVDs.

Yes, my TiVo 007 wishlist has been going nuts these past few weeks. I might as well delete it since I have them all on DVD.

Enjoying the Encore marathon!

A funny little caveat- I went to a bar a friend works at last night and I was reading Moonraker. A couple next to me asked me what I was reading and I showed them. The girl's grandpa was from Jamaica, and saw part of the filming of Dr. No as it was going on. I'd just finished watching it at home!

Very cool Gregg Allinson. I would have loved to hear what he had to say, especially being the first film.

I thought this was interesting -- on Friday evening there were three Bond films showing at the same time on different networks -- Dr. No on Encore as part of the Bond marathon; TND on USA Network; and DAD on The Movie Channel.

There seems to be an awful lot of Bond films on TV compared to past years recently.

Did anyone see the BOND's BEST special on STARZ / ENCORE? Did Roger do some intro's for the Bond marathon that was also on? We don't get those channels, but I was wondering what the Bond's Best was like as well as the intro's.

I didn't see Bond's Best, but yeah, Sir Roger did some intros/remembrances inbetween the films. For as much as I didn't like his portrayal of Bond, I have to admit he's a great "ambassador" for the series.

Fortunately, I have Encore (as well as Encore West/Pacific, which repeats the movies three hours after regular Encore) and have enjoyed it, especially the little segments in between. I wonder if some of them were lifted from the "Making of" documentaries that are on the DVDs.

I saw the one where Roger Moore said TSWLM was his favorite because he like working with Lewis Gilbert.

I also enjoyed the piece where they ask Hollywood stars about their feelings on Bond. Some highlights include:

Colin Farrell's favorite Bond is Roger Moore (ooh, a slap to the face of fellow Irishman Pierce Brosnan :) )

Angelina Jolie made some vague remarks about liking "the guy with the gold teeth" (I think she meant Jaws), and "the guy with the hat that breaks things" (Oddjob)

Jim Carrey expressing fondness for GF

Ethan Hawke's favorite Bond movie is Moonraker, he thought it was cool to be Bond, to be with the girl going around the earth.

Billy Connelly was hilarious, saying "Sean Connery is the only true Bond...until they ask me to be one."

What's great about it is that, outside of the marathons, Encore has the Bond movies in their "rotation". I think they show back-to-back Bonds on Thursday nights and also Saturday afternoons.

I got a bonus this morning: I usually get up around 430am and watch the news, etc. trying to wake up and get ready for work before my wife and kids do. And, lo and behold, TLD was showing, so I got to catch 15-20 minutes of that while I brush my teeth.

Thank you, Encore...

I watched most of it. I don't have this on DVD, so it was the first time seeing this in widescreen (Actually I saw this in the theaters when I was 7, but I didn't remember the aspect ratio). It was pretty cool seeing stuff in the background of scenes you're so familiar with that you never noticed before because it got cut out to fit a TV screen.

Hopefully, Encore will employ this display for more of the Bonds...

The James Bond story is a regular showing on AMC, and usually airs around 2 or 3 a.m. It was made before The World Is Not Enough was released, and it is interesting that it disproves much of what Fleming purists believe(the I think Fleming wanted realism in his books crap). I'll try and watch it again on March 2.
