I haven't seen Ocean's Twelve yet, but I'm not going to listen to Tarl_Cabot's statement because I think he complains too much, and he is inconsiderate of other people's opinions.

My friends saw this movie. They said it was awesome. Who should I listen to- some internet geek on a forum, or people I actually know??? :)

View Post

I am inconsiderate of other people's opinions? :) I am opinionated, perhaps aggressively so-as are many members here who keep things interesting-I enjoy a good debate as long as it's friendly. "Opinions" are not something that need consideration.People do and I don't think I put people down for likeing something I do not...if I do it's in jest and in a spirit of fun because I don't take this stuff too seriously. :)

Maybe I rip on recent bond films too much, I'll grant you that...I suppose a new Year's resolution is in order! :) But when am I inconsiderate? I think I'm pretty pleasant and polite to other members. No? I think your showing more inconsideration to me but hey, it's Friday and I take no offense. :)

I didn't care for 'Ocean's 12' but a friend of mine really liked it and said it was better than the first. I guess I had high expectations. It's certainly a nice looking film, like a two hr post card.I just expected more I guess, from this highly acclaimed director. Cheers. I hope you have a good time. And please feel free to post your thoughts, especially if they conflict with mine.

I saw Ocean's 12 tonight. Enjoyable fluff, but not much else. All of the charisma, chemistry, and ingenuity of Ocean's 11 just isn't here. Taken on it's own, it's a decent waste of 2 hours but only that. The biggest problem is that the sense of fun that made the first so great is nowhere to be found! Ugh.

The worst moment:

/spoiler.gif
That stupid laser dance. What a horrible, horrible idea. Zeta-Jones did the whole laser evasion thing much better in Entrapment, and here it was just unbelievable since the laser paths were randomized.

It's just a waste of time-to pay to see at a theater.

I liked the french thief. He was the only character I found remotely interesting. I'd love to see a film about him, only. Why Not? He wasn't really a bad guy. Was he? He was like Scaramonga in many ways... :)

I think you're being a bit harsh there. A forum is a place where people can express their opinions and Tarl has given his.

Right, Tanger. And I've said it before and I'll say it again: let he or she who does not post on internet discussion fora call others internet geeks. People in glass houses, pots and kettles, etc. etc. :)

I did enjoy the remake, but a follow-up to a remake is never a good thing.

Hmmm.... what's Brosnan got in the pipeline? Oh, yes, THE THOMAS CROWN AFFAIR 2.

View Post

What an uncanny knack for dissing Brosnan you have! I mean, when you work it in to an "Ocean's Twelve" thread, you're good.

View Post

Yes, if you look back over my posts, you'll find that every single last one of them is a painstakingly-crafted attack on Brosnan. Even the ones in which I praise his performance in DIE ANOTHER DAY.

Didn't take much skill to work my latest diatribe against Broz into an OCEAN'S TWELVE thread, though. Bondian mentioned followups to remakes, and it seems Broz has one in the pipeline: a sequel for which there would appear to be little public demand, which I suspect is in production chiefly because the ex-Bond is desperate to star in a Bond-type franchise and remain in the lifestyle and level of fame to which he has become accustomed, and which came his way thanks only to Bond.

Or am I being unpleasant?

Anyway, I did at least contribute to the discussion of OCEAN'S TWELVE, although I freely admit that, since I haven't seen the film, my views on it amount to, well, squat. And your contribution to the discussion of OCEAN'S TWELVE/Soderbergh is....? :)

Yep, to rip on them more. :) :)

Oh, let's just bung our opinions out. No need for treading on eggshells. It's not as though the Broccolis and Brosnans of this world could give a stuff about our views (and rightly so). This is a discussion site for (by and large) movie geeks (not using the word "geek" pejoratively here) who are into Bond and also have a wide range of likes and dislikes about other films/things. It's just a bit of fun, of no consequence.

I've made zero contribution to the Ocean's 12/Soderbergh discusssion. I only posted as part of my campaign to meet gratuitous dissing with equally gratuitous calling out of same. :)

Love ya' Loomie, :) Happy Holidays to ya' mate.

I saw this "film" today. What it really was hardly qualifies as a "film". It's as though the director and actors conned the studio into financing this movie without a script and they just filmed as they went along, making s!@$ up as they go; sure they looked like they were having a blast-why wouldn't they?

The same thing was said about the original "Ocean's 11" which starred Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., et al., and it was true. At least those guys actually hung out off camera. I'm not sure: do Pitt and Clooney chase broads and guzzle booze off the set?

I saw the remake of "11" and thought it was okay, even if that horrible Andy Garcia ruins every movie he's in. He's dreadful.

In the original film, the characters were all 82nd or 101st Airborne vets. I can't remember what the new guys are. Haven't seen this one, but I will rent it...

A nice bit of fun, but nowhere near the first one. I just hope Soderbergh doesn't even consider doing an Erin Brockovich 2.

EB was a wonderful movie that doesn't need an albatross of a dud sequel hanging around its neck.

I saw this tonight, and I was disappointed. The movie has its stars as its charm, but it relies too heavily on them. Everyone is back from the first film, but not many of them get to show any dimension at all. The story is meandering but eventually resolves; it sort of snakes its way into different situations and we have the same "Oh I see" moments as the first. Only this time, it looks like everything has gone wrong and victory is nigh-on impossible. The cameos are interesting as an experiment (this whole film could be seen as an experiment) but are a little too cute.

On the technical end, Soderbergh is brave in his use of the shaky camera (which I found excessive) but the picture is grainy. David Holmes' score features those same cool jazz beats from the first, but I wish it had developed more. One more thing, Catherine Zeta-Jones is still exceptionally beautiful at 34. Wow.

I was never a big fan of O-11, so I never expected too much of the sequel; saw it last night and I found it thoroughly enjoyable. Not much plot in this film, but all the more 'atmosphere' and in-jokes. :)

Not as good as the first movie, but very enjoyable in its own right. Those expecting the same movie as the first will be disapointed.
BTW im now convinced CZJ would make a pretty good Bond girl, as long as we didnt have all the silly hype that surrounded Jinx.
