This was on that site zencat linked to a bit back:

Spoiler

Nothing really spoilery there I guess, but whatever.

Paul McGuigan's directing it? That's pretty interesting in itself. I had no idea; should be very interesting.
Becoming not entirely dissimilar in concept to the Downey film now: they said they're focusing on the adventure element and both have a film director better known for gangster movies behind the camera! B)

I wonder if David Arnold is on music duties for the rest of the series? It's sounding a quite cinematic series if so ('from the director of 'Push', from the writer of 'Tintin', from the composer of 'James Bond'' ).

Speaking of DVD, looks like Guy Ritchie's Sherlock is coming to DVD/Blu-Ray March 31st. Sweet!

Announced!

A Blu-Ray/DVD combo? Yes, I'll take one of those, please.

I just got this from Netflix. I'll be watching it tonight. I don't know, looks like it might be kind of fun. A little Doctor Whoish.

Honestly I plan on watching it, too. Not sure if it's "so bad it's okay" (definitely not so craptacular it kicks B)) or just camp/hamtastic, but it's definitely looking like one of those. And having Reed and Ianto on the cast is just a plus for me. Oh, and mostly because dinosaurs make everything better. FACT. Probably not gonna check it out tonight, but definitely plan on seeing it soon.

Currently into the Grenada series, 3rd season, watched 'The Second Stain' yesterday (for which they did a lot of shooting on location in real London - instead of the studio backlot). Had to chuckle yesterday, when I saw Watson buying a newspaper at the exact same spot where Brosnan entered the 'abandoned station for abandoned agents' in DAD B)

Well, I did check it out tonight and didn't find it very good or enjoyable on any level. I'm sure the actor they cast as Holmes is fine person, but I'm at a loss at how anyone saw Sherlock in him. Production design is decent (never mind the grand piano in Baker Street) and it's pretty amazing that they shot this in 13 days...but...yeah, I won't be adding this one to the collection.

Sherlock sequel is on the way.

Well Zencat we disagree again. I thought it was quite possibly one of the worst travesties of the Sherlock Holmes character I have ever seen, and there are a few to consider. Nice production design though.

Not sure if you can disagree with the notion that there's a sequel on the way! Not really an opinion as such... B)

So is no-one else amused by the idea that the new BBC Sherlock means that Una Stubbs and Bruce Willis have now shared a director?

So nobody is interested in replying to my last post but what the hell B) I've googled this new tv show and it seems quite interesting. Would appreciate any comments on whether its any good or not..

Anyway - change of subject - can someone help me on another matter please? I'm looking for something Holmesian to frame for one of the walls at home. I'm thinking original prints or something similar. I've surfed around a bit and not found anything that fits the bill other than posters and I'm looking for something more unique than that. Regardless, I want something on the literary Holmes not tv or film. Does anyone know of a site that might have this type of stuff?

thanks in advance!

It's only going to be a handful of episodes -- four I think -- and according to the twitter Paul McGuigan is directing. But according to wiki, some Coky somethingorother is directing, so I don't know if it's a different director for each episode, or wiki's wrong, or it's just whatsisface for the pilot and McGuigan for the rest or what.

There's a promo shot somewhere. I'll go hunting for it.

Thanks Stromberg - appreciate your help. I've actually already looked there and it's not really what I'm looking for. I think I need to find a collector who deals in this stuff. That reminds me - many years ago when I was living in London I called up the Sherlock Holmes Museum as listed in the yellow pages on spec. Anyway, when I turned up it was the apartment of an elderly chap who, I kid you not, was probably the greatest SH expert in the world. We spent the whole day just looking at his collection and chatting. He'd been the consultant on every SH related piece of entertainment since Rathbone. I'm telling you, it was unbelievable. A few years after I met him (I wish I could remember his name :{ ) I saw on TV that he'd died and his entire collection had been put up for auction by his wife (who I also met - she brought us tea and cake!). I have no idea what the auction brought in but it was amazing stuff. Now THAT'S the kind of stuff I want! Anyone know of a serious collector/dealer I could connect with?

Very interesting - thank you. I can see this Benedict Cumberbatch as Holmes. Wasn't he in that University Challenge movie with James McAvoy? He was good in that.
