Does anyone know of any monologues that have been used in James Bond? I can't think of any cinematic ones, perhaps in the literature? Ideas anyone?

How long as the speech 7777? I want to get a copy. I hope to use them for an audition as well.

And Walther, thank you for putting that monologue online. I appreciate it. I had forgotten that long speech. Quite a good one too. Time to consider!

Hey, Blue Eyes, you into scene work yet? I'm going to be doing the scene between Bond and Trevelyan from GE here in about a week too.

I don't know exactly what you mean by monologues, but I guess nearly every villain has one in the second half of the film.

The most obvious one of these I can think of is Carver in TND, where he describes his vision infront of Bond and Wai Lin. The whole story was based around this monologue (says a lot about Fierstein).

Carver had one in TND, when he is giving his speech for the CMGN opening. I have the script from that VHS SP. ED. of TND. Here it is in all it glory:

Good Evening. Tonight's Broadcast was supposed to be a celebration, marking the completion of the Carver Global Satellite Network.
We now have the ability to reach every human being on earth.
But as you are well aware, a terrible conflict looms tonight in the South China Seas...
Which, unchecked, has the potential to destroy every human being on earth.
I want to assure my viewers that I - Elliot Carver - Have spoken to the Prime Minister in London, and the Chairman in Beijing...
And have offered my services, as an impartial citizen of the world, to help these two great nations find common ground, and settle their differences...
Seeking nothing for myself but peace, and cooperation, between all mankind.
In a sense, however, it is exactly events like these that caused me to create the Carver Media Group Network - with its printing presses running twenty four hours a day, and its satellite facilities, linking every last corner of the earth.
Why did I do it, you ask? The answer is simple: Power.
The Power to educate. The power to enlighten. The power to illuminate the far corners of the globe... Not for higher profits, but for higher understanding between the people of this great planet.
And what do I expect in return?
World-wide domination.
But not over governments, or religion, or ideology...
But complete, utter, total, world-wide domination over tyranny, and isolation, and ignorance.
Yes, the Carver Media Group Network has the ability to reach every person, in every village, in every nation.
But do not fear me. For tonight, I offer you my declaration of principles. A promise to my brothers and sisters - the men and women of this planet, whom I so humbly serve.
I promise to report the news, without fear or favor.
I promise to be a force for good in this world - fighting injustice, crushing intolerance, battling inhumanity - striking a blow for freedom at every turn.
Yes that is the goal of the Carver Media Group...(the lights go out) Network.
Have a nice time memorizing it, I know I will for next week!

Blue Eyes (11 Feb, 2002 04:42 a.m.):
Right now I have the "You can't handle the truth" monolgue from a A Few Good Men basically down pat.

Isn't that odd, the audition I went on and used the TND monologue was for A Few Good Men. I'm kind of have withdrawals from the play now that its over.
PS-are you doing the movie or the play version, because the play came first and it doesn't contain the banter between Jessep and Kaffee, the "You can't handle the truth" isn't as prominant.

Nope sadly, haven't had the need for it at uni yet.

The reason I'm after monologues is for my audition for NIDA (Australian equivelant of RADA) later this year. I'm working out my audition pieces. Right now I have the "You can't handle the truth" monolgue from a A Few Good Men basically down pat.

I have to pick a Shakespeare and I'm thinking of "If t'were done, when t'is done..." from Macbeth.

I want to have at least 6 down pat for my audition.

I actually took bits from the beginning like, "Stop the presses, this just in. It seems that there's a crisis brewing in the South China Sea." I then went into the spiel when Bond and Carver are in Saigon. I did it all with an evil blank stare and full emotion, more so than was actually in the movie.

Don't forget the 'vital-purpose-of-Le-Chiffre' monologue from the hospital scene in Casino Royale. Yikes, that's quite a mouthful!

Do you feel that a monologue from a film works well in the environment of the theatre?

The Lion In Winter [the film] was originally a theatre play. All monologues work anywhere. They are usually about one persons outpouring of emotion over a lengthy period. A monologue works in theatre / radio / television / film / the street / the park / the bedroom / the bathroom / the internet / the countryside / the car / the bus ...
