I'm not against old villians, Donald is now 70, but thats not my point, I think Kiefer Sutherland, has always appeared maturer then his year, ever since Lost Boys, and his work on 24, he can be dramatic, mencering when angry, and amusing and funny when poking fun at someone, you gotta remember Lost Boys and his portrayal of David, that sort of sinisterism in a human Bond villian, perfect.
You can imagine those scenes of him having get to know Bond and respect him, then turn nasty when it matters, something Dalton and Davi did well on Licence to Kill.

I like Donald, but he's a bit more calmer in his approach, Kiefer is the phsyical threat and you sense he has the maturity as well.

It might be tough working out a scedule around his 24 show, that's the only thing.

Bond villians are sometimes described as Bond's mirror image with a twisted thing about them, this is what Dalton and Davi looked on when re-reading Casino Royale, and since this next film is rumoured to be a Casion Royale updated, Kiefer is your man as Bond villian.

Although he wasn't seen, Kiefer was pretty effective in Phone Booth, just with his voice LOL, he's perfect for villians.

Interesting idea there. I too enjoyed his performance as the mysterious sniper in Phone Booth.

Is 24 even on anymore? I've been waiting for it since the end of last season and it is probably too late for it to begin now. But he was amazing on that show. He is an unbelievable actor his voice has got to be the most distinct villain's voices I've ever heard. I personally think it out-ranks Jack Nicholson's.

Yeah, it's still on. It starts January 9th with a 2 hour premier. FOX decided to start it in January and run it straight through with no breaks, because last season they had a 5 week break between episodes.

MattBowyer and myself like 24 a lot. So talk to us for all your 24-related questions, if need be. Heck, my name is after Sutherland's character on the show. :)

Sutherland in a Bond film? Who would do the title song, Pink Floyd? That'd be the best Bond film in history. You can have Brett Favre and Peyton Manning making cameos, and weird stuff like that. Ah, if only my favorite things could make it to one dynamic film.

Kiefer Sutherland as a villain is not a bad idea, especially in this period of Bond films where there hasn't been a single scene set in the USA for 15 years (LTK).

I've always been a fan of Sutherland. He was good in Young Guns, Young Guns 2, Flatliners, and Stand by me in addition to the films already mentioned.

He would certainly be better in a villain role than Donald Sutherland, who I feel is just a little bit over the hill.

Ah, reefer Sutherland....he can be the villain and maybe Gary Busey can be his henchman who has a no holds barred fist fight with Bond at the end in a yard as it is pouring rain...I think Mel Gibson would be perfect for Bond here. (joke, joke, nudge, nudge)

At this point, I'm agreed. If only one of them was to be in it, I think I might choose Kiefer.

I think he'd be great as a villian. Like others have said, he could be the dark side of Bond like they did in Licence To Kill. And yeah, I can't wait for the new season to start, and His daughter won't be in it this season, so no more stupid plot lines with her in it.

I imagine him in the role that Lee had as Scaramanga in The Man With The Golden Gun. :)

No reason why they couldn't have both. Kiefer as the main, more visiable villain, in the foreground, and Donald as the sinister Blofeld-type leader in the shadows, pulling the strings.

Like I mentioned before, I think it would be neat to have the two Sutherlands playing a villainous father and son team.

Keifer Sutherland would be great as a Bond villain. One thing that is good is his age. Personally I am a fan of the Bond vs. bad guy one on one fights. Like Bond vs. 006 or Renard. End scenes like the one with Carver in TND are kinda lame, but those older villains usually have a henchman he can fight. Anyway, whoever the new Bond is would not really be able to fight Donald Sutherland, it would seem weird having a 30 something guy beat up on a senior citizen. But a good fist fight with Keifer Sutherland would be great. He can be evil and be an opposite of Bond whether he is the main villian or a henchman.

Maybe have Patrick Stewart as Blofeld and Keifer Sutherland as his top operative/assassin! :)

Blofeld and son of Blofeld - why not?

I'd like to see the Sutherlands as Bond villains, but perhaps Kiefer might be seen as too big a star and too charismatic - in other words, he'd seem likely to steal the movie from whoever was playing Bond.

True enough, unless they decide to go the "Superman" route - unknown as Superman (Reeves, Routh) big names as the villain (Hackman, Spacey) or in supporting roles (Brando, Beatty, etc.). It seems almost like they'd be making up for having an unknown as the lead, but there is the danger that if whoever they get to play Bond isn't charismatic enough he'll be lost in the shuffle.

Thank God! I cant bear to hear her say 'I love you Daddy' one more time.

As for the Sutherlands, I would love for one or both of them to be in Bond. They are both pretty cool on the menacing villain front.Though if there were to be any fight scenes Keither v Bond would be better.

Now why would I go to all of the trouble of looking for those answers in a 24 forum when I can get a quick answer right here? A quick answer is all I need.
