I think one of the most interesting things about James Bond that he is not English. As we all know his father is Scottish and his mother is Swiss. Isnt it interesting? Britains no.1 super agent is not English and only half British. My question is what was Flemings reason for making 007 only half British? He might have seen the future about the EU perhaps

Two french girls actually won a contest to meet Pierce Brosnan on the set of The World Is Not Enough. The question they had to answer was "What is James Bond's Nationality?". When Pierce asked them what they put for an answer, they replied "British". Then Pierce explained to them they had actually won on false pretenses- Bond is not British at all.
(I got this information from the novel "Martinis, Girls, and Guns: 50 Years of 007")

Wasn't it Flemings intention that Bond should look 'non-English'?.

According to John Pearson's bio, Bond's a "kraut", a German.

I think Blofeld was a bit of a mixed bag, too. Born in Poland if I remember rightly.

I think some of us are confusing English and British. Bond is most certainly British, but most certainly not English.

My question is why did Fleming made James Bond half-Swiss. Is there any special reason?

Fleming made Bond part Scottish due to Connery playing the part. That bit came out in the novel U Only Live Twice, released after Connery started playing the part

Didn't Ian Fleming go to a boarding school in Switzerland? I believe that one of the documentaries on the Special Edition DVDs mentions that he received support and encouragement while in Switzerland for his writing.
