This isn't anything really important, but I thought it was interesting. When I began reading Dr. No, the Bond I imagined was Roger Moore's. But then for some reason as soon as Honey appeared, it switched to Connery. Not sure why, but it was rather jolting. Who do you guys imagine in the role when you're reading it?

I always used to imagine a generic Bond when I read any Bond novel. It was sort of my own version based on Flemings description and how I'd expect Bond to look. Recently though I've been picturing Cary Grant as Bond and so that's the one I'm seeing in Dr. No.

For Doctor No, it's the literary Bond. I can't really see any of the five past Bond actors in the role. I like it better too with seeing a different Bond when I read it.

Easy for me. This was the first Bond book that I ever read, and it holds a very dear place for me. I was still in grade school, and wasn't allowed to see Bond films at such a tender age :) . As such, I always have Fleming's description stuck in my head, along with the blurry fellow from the old Signet paperback covers.

Connery, probably because the book was adapted fairly faithfully for the screen (I saw the film - and saw it many times - years before I read the novel, natch). When reading, say, "The Spy Who Loved Me", I picture yer generic tall, dark, handsome guy as Bond.

I saw the movies before I read the books so I always imagined whichever actor played the part of Bond in the corresponding film.

Perhaps it has something to do with how correct the adaptions from novel to screen are.

Well i always imagine Pierce Brosnan just b/c I was the current bond and was thinking what it would be like if they refilmed the books.

I imagine Fleming's descriptions, a James Bond that looks the same with everyone else, but with the personality of Timothy Dalton.

I usually potray ALL Bond actors to appear in the book, just to offer some variety. Then when I think who was the best, I'll choose the actor to appear in the next book.

A good idea, SPECTRE Assassin. I hadn't thought of trying all of them in the books to see which sounds the most simiar. :)

Usually a hybrid of Pierce Brosnan/Timothy Dalton/Sean Connery in the looks, with the voice of Roger Moore.

When I first began to read Casino Royale, I tried to imagine Connery as Bond. But soon I found that Bond changed into a bloke I conjured up through the descriptions in the book, and had no resemblence to any of the actors. Halfway through Dr. No, I attempted to have Bond be Brosnan, but that failed as well.

Connery. I find that when reading the books he's the one who usually springs to mind. Sometimes Dalton does. Rarely Brosnan. Never Moore or Lazenby.

I picture Matthew Perry. Especially in Casino Royale. "Le Chiffre, could that carpet beater BE any nastier?"

It's often best, IMO, to just see that Bond as a sixth literary Bond, alongside the five official actors.

You may Hrabb04 now but there will always be a little "Chandler Bing" in you.

P.S.

Did not get your novel for Christmas but hope to pick it up in the nex few weeks.

Sorry that I've gone off topic here.

A mix of Connery and the imaginary literary 007 I have in my head.
