Damn, the pics didn't show up! It wouldn't let me apply the pics to the post. It's such a pain getting pics posted right on this forum (get the feeling I don't want to be here much longer, too hard to navigate this forum!!) Anyone know how to fix this problem?

Thank you, Athena and BondIsMoore. I plan on making a few more soon. It wasn't QUITE as good as I had hoped it would be in certain areas and I had to improvise a lot but it came out okay I think. There are some things I would have done differently but I like it. :) I had thought about doing a silver version of the golden gun and a couple more gold versions too. Thank you guys for your opinion!

VERY NICE! I'm impressed that it can be constructed/deconstructed ala the movie! My only vice is that it seems a little big, other then that, good job :)

Great effort there goldergun_scaramanga. :)

I'm curious, how does it feel in your hand?

Having an uncomfortably straight grip would've thrown Scaramangs off-balance in targeting somewhat, I would've thought.

BTW, what probems have you had re posting images?? We've had no problems highlighted to us from anyone else.
:)

Excellent work, gg_s. Impressive stuff. You may have answered this elsewhere, but do you have any plans to make other Bond props, or even a Golden Bullett to go along with it?

Icephoenix, from what specs I could get from some of the props used on the movie and SD studios' version, the gun is fairly heavy and the pen on my prop is really lunky. I think it's pretty decent considering what I had to work with. If you notice when Scaramanga was assembling the gun, he retracted the lid off the cigarette case and slid the top of it into the bottom of the cigarette lighter box (chamber of the gun) and that was what stumped me more than any other obstacle and I was forced to improvise. (it's basically the same function as sliding a small battery on the back of a 2nd generation Nokia cell phone, they use "T" runners that are mirrored one another). The gun in the movie I believe was three different guns though. It would easily fall apart if not handled correctly so they had to cut to Hi-Fat to avoid the problem to a degree in the movie. I wanted my prop to lock together more securely so it could be handled a little more though, that's why some things are bigger in certain areas.

He he, Athena, you'd be awfully surprised how I built this gun but I have nothing to hide (trade secrets, etc.) I only have two problems, SD studios holds the license to build this gun. I think the only way around that is to change up a few things so it can't be said that I was making any profit off of one of their products. If anything, I would make a guide and parts list to show other folks who are interested in making their own how to build a golden gun, but otherwise I would make a few more with no profit. Even if I could legally market these, I wouldn't ask any more than $100-$250 at the very very most.

Thank you, Blofeld :) It feels a tiny bit heavy, cold and slightly blocky. As far as Scaramanga's aim, if you notice the grip is at a tiny bit of an angle. Not much though.

Mister Asterix, that's basically how I built this one. It's really hard to get some things as proportionate as they seem on t.v. but believe it or not, as far as the golden gun is concerned, how big it is on the t.v. screen is about the same size as it would be right in front of you. Thanks for replying!

Janus, I am considering it but I would have to change a few things up. Either that or don't charge any amount of money that would get me in trouble with SD's license for the prop. Do you know of anything I might do to avoid any copyright infringements with SD/master replicas?? (All I would probably do in the most likely situation is just ask for the money to buy materials to build a gun for an order, if anything)

Double-Oh-Zero, at this time I haven't made a bullet for the gun no but it wouldn't be much of a problem at all to get one. I would probably consider making other Bond gadgets that some people have a harder time finding. All I really did in this case was take a typical 1x4 piece of plywood and sand down the grip and use liquid nails and the strongest epoxy you can buy and used a jeweler's mallet and gently applied some of the thinnest brass sheet metal they make (hobby lobby) and that gives the gold plated look. The whole gun basically threads together that holds it locked in placed, I just bought up some dremel tool cutoff wheels and cut sheet metal to the closest specifications used in the movie and glued it all together slowly over time and I can't say I've had any problems with it falling apart on me or giving me any kind of trouble. I used some telescoping techniques for the pen and extracting piece from the Colibri cigarette lighter box, used a micro hinge for the cigarette case and re-enforced everything with a touch of super-epoxy and it's held for months now, the gun in itself is about a pound at most. I spent about 4-6 months overall on this prop but from troubleshooting in the past it probably wouldn't take me quite as long to make more now that I know more of what I'm doing! If anyone would be interested in a guide or parts and price list, or would generally like me to take a stab at another golden gun (silver or gold) or another Bond gadget shoot me an email at: [email protected] or leave me a message and I'll see what I can do! Thanks. :)
