Finally, we know 31 of the 32 teams going, and it looks like it will be Australia who could sneak through the back door, but a one goal difference won't guarantee it. I myself will be supporting the Republic of Ireland in South Korea and Japan. They did well to go to Tehran in the midst of all this conflict and lose only 1-0. They will make a great impact in Japan/South Korea and will surpass all expectations that anyone sets before them. They will do as they did before, and reach the Quarter Finals when everone expects them to collapse in the Group Stage. Watch out England, Germany, Italy. We knocked out Holland, we can knock out anyone as they are supposedly the best team never to win the World Cup. BRING IT ON!!!

What do you think of sweden?

As usually Sweden mades a good qualify, but when they have to be at best they gets really poor, like in euro2000. Sweden is better then England can I say, Sweden hasn't lost agaisnt England since a lot of year, only wins!!!

The last game Eng - Swe (1-1) was poor, HOW COULD ENGLAND GET THAT PENALTY???

Lousy Uruguay, I was sure the Aussies would make it. We haven't made it since '74, now its another 4 years. :)

You know what s***s me? AFL. It's called Football out there. And we call the real football soccer. I mean comeone how can you call it football when you have to use your hands to bounce the ball!

Being a New South Welshman, I must admit I'm unsure as to why Rugby League and Rugby Union is also called football when it is predominantly played with the hands (let's not even refer to the game of Handball).

Same with NFL in the US. It's even more confusing when we, in Australia, call NFL football "gridiron", which I understand is the term for the field the players play on.

Bookshelf 2000 on my computer states that the word soccer actually comes from the alteration of "assoc.", abreviation of association football.

So, there you go.

Are we talking about "football".

The one involving the ball being kicked, hence "foot" and "ball".

Or is there something else going on? One of these "hand ball" or "throw ball" games?

All I'm going to say is

En-ger-land, En-ger-land, En-ger-land

Bring it on! :)

I'm really looking forward to it now. The only problem is going to be getting up at the rediculous times in the morning to watch it. The guys in Aus have it easy!

Although we were beaten by England 1:5, we won 4:1 vs Ukraine and we are also going to Japan or South Korea in May ;d.

The only problem I will have is the time difference between East Asia and Middle Europe... :)

But Germany is back. After 1954, 1974 and 1990 we are going to win the Soccer World Cup 2002! Count on us! ;D

Go Australia, they played well last night, creating quite a few scoring oppurtunities. 1 - 0 is a great start, especially since it gives Uruguay (reminds me of that Simpsons episdoe U-R-gay lol) no away goals. It will be great for Austalian Soccer if they manage to get in, especially after last time. And you never know, they may just do okay if they get in too. :)

Scoccer... *lol* - S O C C E R ;d

And yes, it is played with a round thing, called "ball". Two teams play against each other, every team has 10 field player and one goalkeeper. The round thing has to be shot into the goal, that you get a point. And than some rules. And that's it :)
