She writes it is down to Clive Owen, Adrian Paul, Hugh Jackman, Ricki Lee Travolta and Eric Bana--with the possibility that Julien McMahon might also be a possibility. She says its down to them. Maybe complete nonsense but who knows maybe this U.K. writer has a connection. So add one more rumor.

So what's the deal with Ricki Lee Travolta? I've seen that name in connection with this a couple of times the past week for the first time.Elites TV has a second article out today(the first was out 4 days ago) insisting that the Bond choice is down to 5 finalists. It is written by a freelance U.K. writer Karen Heubert as was the first one that insisted the same story was true--does she have connections, I don't know--never heard of her. But she is sticking with her story.

I don't know about his credentials, but "Ricki Lee Travolta is James Bond" doesn't have much of a ring to it. Sounds more like he should be singing folk songs.

I don't know much about him either, I think he is 29 and classically and theatrically trained. Not much else do I know about him.So what's the deal with Ricki Lee Travolta? He does sound like he should have a white leisure suit on dancing under disco lights.

Do these stories really tell anything anymore? That is, anything that can be proven.Elites TV has a second article out today(the first was out 4 days ago) insisting that the Bond choice is down to 5 finalists. Some of this is just so far gone, we need news.

True it's not particularly fair to write the guy off based on a name. But from that photo it makes it more tempting.Rikki Lee is anywere related to John "70's" Travolta by the way?

LOL! How true. It's more of the first I've heard of him, interesting he's up there with the other four.So what's the deal with Ricki Lee Travolta? Going from memory we had
- how Travolta could be the first Bond to have Native American blood.
- how age could be deciding factor - even though she seems unable to get the ages right
- the bardic training of the contenders - in which she confuses studying Shakespeare at secondary school (ie the equivalent of high school) with being a classically trained actor.
Pure twaddle, to use a technical phrase.

Am I really supposed to believe that they are seriously considering an American singer, with no film acting credits?
I'm sorry, that is ridiculous and it calls the credibility of the article into severe question for me.

Lazenby wasn't exactly Olivier, but an appearance on EdTV, as a double, no less, doesn't make you Bond either.

I think this is a case of someone's PR guys going that extra mile and somehow getting his name in the line-up with the true contenders who DO possess some or all of the "right stuff."
Bond has to have not only charm and sex appeal, handsome looks men envy and women admire, but the actor needs to possess talent, athletic ability, look believable when he throws a punch and be able to understand how to perform in front of a camera!
I think it's another case of "wishful thinking" becoming "internet rumor" with PR guys jumping in!

Well, it's reminscent of George Lazenby, who had little film experience. He was noticed for certain things though. Here is his IMDb entry and bio.

--Owen
The other three names seem ridiculous to list, maybe just Bana and Travolta.

I've gotten to the point where these are the two guys I really want. Obviously one or the other, we can't have both--Jackman
--Owen

Of course I'm open to anyone who gets the role, but I gotta admit I'll be a tad disappointed if it's not Owen or Jackman.

Don't know about Bond, but he could definitely replace Steven Van Zandt as Silvio in "The Sopranos".The guy is American and looks nothing like Bond. Lets pray that they don't pick him. Here's a few pics:

I never knew there was a "window" where it was uncertain that Brosnan would return. I always thought he was a sure thing, as far as Bond 20 was concernedThe funny thing about Ricki Lee is for a short while in 2001 he was rumored to be on a shortlist for Bond when there was a quick window of doubt about Pierce being back. So he is back again in 2004. Of course Pierce shortly after ended up signing and agreeing to do DAD.

Between THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH and DIE ANOTHER DAY, I remember reading a report on some site or other that Russell Crowe was being wooed to replace Brosnan for BOND 20, on the grounds that Broz wanted more money than Eon was prepared to pay.I never knew there was a "window" where it was uncertain that Brosnan would return. I always thought he was a sure thing, as far as Bond 20 was concerned
I dismissed it as the usual internet rubbish at the time, but maybe there was actually some truth in it.

From what I have gathered it was only a brief window of doubt. Brosnan and the producers soon came to a financial agreement and it was closed. Only very briefly did they consider others.I never knew there was a "window" where it was uncertain that Brosnan would return.
