*Note: My rankings are different, in that sometimes a 4/5 for a Gardner book, doesn't equal a 4/5 of a Fleming book.

Whether I'd still consider HTTK the worst of the lot after reading 'em all I don't know, but I'm 100% sure that YOLT would remain my pick for Best Bond Novel Ever.

It's usually some of the Gardner contenders for my least favorite of all.

I would humbly suggest that a different criteria were used for the non Fleming Bonds. After all, do you really consider that Icebreaker (Gardner) and The Facts of Death (Benson) are better than Flemings You Only Live Twice?

No I do not, that's why I noted this before: :)

There are some here who really like TABOJB, and Pearson is to be commended for his research and workmanlike prose (and his great Fleming biography), but his Bond strikes me as a pompus :). Not to mention writing off Moonraker as he did...grrrrrr :) !

Hokey toots, you mean I can't say :). I'm a pretty conservative guy, but that's kind of stretching it :) .

What word was it Clink?

Here's a clue:

And he found a new jawbone of an :), and put forth his hand, and took it, and slew a thousand men therewith.

And Samson said, With the jawbone of an :), heaps upon heaps, with the jawbone of an :) have I slain a thousand men.

Just a case Clink, of when some, can use the word in very negative ways against others.

Someday, when old mother Hubbard goes to the lexicon cupboard, it will be bare, because the entire English tongue will be filled with nothing but words that have negative connotations.

With that happy thought, I'm going to bed.

G'nite all.

Moonraker over FRWL, wow, I don't think I've encountered many who would vote that way. Cool and interesting. With that said I'm gonna call the kettle black.

I sometimes think From Russia With Love, while a great book, is overrated. I just like Moonraker more.
