No, nay never. But (almost as usual) might make a good henchman....

I respectfully disagree. No Bond film appearance.

Why not?

I believe he would turn out into a Zao-like henchman. He's there, but there's no remembering of him. IMO, Zao will not be remembered as well as other henchman. The acting just wouldn't seem to fit a grandesque enemy of Bond.

I'd agree that Jones should be kept away from a Bond flick. I think he has about as much class as a pavement spattered with vomit and strewn with kebab wrappers.

I wondered who that was, following me about.

Whoa. I don't think my dislike for him is as great as yours, but in other words, yes he shouldn't be in one.

I cannot imagine he would give a all star performance.

Hmm... He looks exactly like James Bond to me.

I dunno; I admit to doubts before Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (not altogether dispelled, frankly) and Snatch (considerably better - perversely charming, very odd); especially with the latter, and the "Desert Eagle" scene, I think he could be quite a menacing unter-villain (still not sold on him as Bond, though). Gives an "interesting" performance in "Mean Machine", which is a uniquely dreadful film, but he's oddly compelling.

Could be useful to scare the children. After all, Robert Carlyle was hardly threatening, was he?

He could always grab Bond by the testicles. Or bite his nose. I admit those references probably won't travel well but then given some of the 'Ollywood stuff he's been in, neither does he.

Certainly not.

If scaring is the goal...

Just occurred to me that Jones could have made a blimmin' good Renard after I read that, Jim. Might just be me. Or the fact that Carlyle was just...underwhelming.

He could always grab Bond by the testicles.

All the more reason to do Casino Royale for the next film, I suppose

The issue about Bond being a gentleman and sophisticated kind of put him out of the running as Bond, but I think Jones would make a great lackey, henchman or assassin.

And he'd likely be a formidable one, since it's all he's really played.

Hasn't Vinnie Jones been in the rumor mill for years as a villain's henchman? I seem to remember rumors that the producers were considering him for the role of Gabor in The World is Not Enough. Wasn't he also considered for the role of Stamper in Tomorrow Never Dies?

Just a quick reply to Simon and a few others. Doesn't anyone remember the BMW commercials with Owen? They had a series of films at bmwfilms.com. All of the films starred Owen as "The Driver". I thought they were pretty good and at the time I even thought he had a little Bond potential. I think the site might even still be there.

Not that he's my favorite or anything. I'm sick of the debate. I just want to watch a Bond movie.

Truly?

I didn't follow the films then as I did for Die Another Day, but I don't recall hearing that.

Makes some sense as both Gabor and Stamper were brauns villains, but I didn't know that.

.

But it's too obvious, isn't it?

It's like I was saying above, if he's played a bad guy, then make him play a bad guy.

If he's worn a tux, give him Bond.

None of this turns everything on its head. Maybe I'm just bored by the prospect of another new Bond with the current names being touted, this will be my third since I grew up in the Moore era.
