I tried, I really tried. Even the terrific Mego Muesum (the CBn of the Mego world ) didn't have them.

But I'm still on the hunt. If we somehow get them, I will update the article.

For those into Mego and '70s action figures, a great book is GI Joe and Other Backyard Heroes by John Marshall.

Yet another fine article, Zencat. I'm always interested in the stuff like this from the era I grew up in.

I was a Mego action figure fanatic back in the day. I had all the superheroes, Planet of the Apes and Star Trek figures along with a few mixed in oddities like Action Jackson, a G.I. Joe rip-off, as well as a couple monster figures. My parents didn't have to go far to know what I wanted for Xmas back in the 1970s.

On another note, $60,000 doesn't seem like so much money these days, does it?

I thought I saw a Mego Holly Goodhead on eBay.

I was primarily a Hasbro/GI Joe man myself, but I still had my share of Megos. Spiderman, Hulk, the monsters (of course) and some of the Planet of the Apes figures. The Mego Planet of the Apes line was really amazing.

Yes, very good article. It's well researched and SEEEMS...VERRY...THOROUGH (as the Comrade Chairman in "Octopussy" might say).

My theory on any disappointing sales with the Roger Moore Moonraker doll is that he looks like Jonathan Harris as Dr. Smith:

I was a huge mego fan as a kid in the '70s. I did not buy any of the Moonraker figures as I hated the movie.

However, if they had put out a 3&3/4" line I would probably have snapped them up.

For years I've hoped for usch a line. They could start with a series from whatever current film they were promoting and then phase differenct classic villains.

Before long your desk or dresser (at least mine) would be crawling with bond characters.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Sideshow figures but a smaller scale line would be less expesnive to collect.

Those are some reasonable prices for those figures..... I've seen Holly go for as much as $250 and Drax go for $300-325

There was a small wave of these on eBay all at the same time -- maybe that's why these went for these lower prices.

I wonder if the one I saw was left over from this. Or maybe someone just had it laying around, I'd never seen one before.

I was thinking the same thing.

Funny should revive this thread. Another site (non Bond site, I think) is doing a MAJOR article on the Mego Moonraker line. I'll post the link when it's up.
