NO MORE SNOW! after Bond 20 we need to go back to a tropical setting. Back in the 60's the Bond movies were famouse or their beautiful exotic locations. We need to go to the Bahamas or something like that, because I get enough snow where I live, And I need to find Bond on a beach with a beautiful women.

I was just about to say Australia! My fan fic (these words seem to feature in alot of posts nowadays which just shows what a thrivingly creative community we have here) includes Rhodes and Australia as their locations and NO SNOW! Casablanca too! There is no dull weather at all. My next fan fic is set mostly on the isle of man and in Lincolnshire so it is a little more rainy but hey! sod sun! Bond films don't see enough rain IMO!

I agree with you very much. The last time Bond was on a beach was in FYEO, in '81. That was over 20 years ago!

PERFECT Tropical location: Bali, Indonesia
If not only for this hotel:

I can't ever remember Bond going to Indonesia, just adjacent islands

Also, if you're looking to Amsterdam, he should definitely stay at:

(As you can see, I'm obsessed w/ high profile hotels, which is why I couldn't be more excited for The Ice Hotel in Bond 20)

I would like to see Bond face a psycho OTT villain in an island area somewhere.
The tropic scenes in GoldenEye seem fakey to me. I think it's because they don't visit a Cuban city or something along that line.

I agree with you. Bring Bond back to the Carribean, some LALD-like scenes would be very cool.

I agree. Send Bond to the Antipodes.
Not only Australia, with everything from deserts to rainforests and, of course, the aforesaid tropical beaches and barrier reef as well, but just over the Tasman is New Zealand with its own spectacular scenery. Both countries have the infrastructure to handle a Bond sized film easily.
But Eon had better get in quick. After The Matrix, MI2 and Lord of the Rings, I can see lots of internastional productions heading down under, and Bond should be leading rather than following.

What about the Aussie bush? Bond has NEVER been to oz, in 40 years not once! The only time u see Australia is on Maps!
We have rainforest here as well, snow, desert (duh), reefs, citys u name it!
Oz is perfect!!!

That would be a great Bond Movie. Australia would be the perfect setting. Bond does need to go to Australia.

I think China would be a good location (Peking, Shanghai, the Great Wall).
Or Japan once again.

This post got me thinking, can anyone remember the last time a Bond pic did feature a scene in which it rained? In fact, I'm wracking my brain here, and I can't think of one at all. All I can come up with is the shot in GoldenEye where it was snowing. I really can't think of any occasion when it's rained. My mind has maybe just gone blank - but I am quite willing to believe that there are bigger fans out there who have more photographic memories. Can anyone think of raining shots?

I like those hotels a lot. I wonder if they had casinos in them for Bond to visit.

Snow scenes are becoming like part of the formula in the Bonds, almost something you expect. The Parahawk snow scene in TWINE didn't do much for me. A warm island location might be nice. The only possible drawback could be Brosnan. If he continues in the role, will he be in shape, or be like Moore was in his last few pictures where they always seemed to shoot around him, as in the scene in May Day's bed.

What about Bond going to the Netherlands Antilles? ;-) I've been there, and I must say Willemstad is very much the exotic tropical version of our Amsterdam (For future Bonds.our Dutch Antilles are very much in discussion now, because it's a famous 'pitstop' for drugs baron's from Latin America)

At least I want in the future some shots in a tropical city, like we had in Kingston, Rio de Janeiro, Nassau and Tanger

Yeah, hope the producers see this... NO SNOW PLEASE....

actually, a scene where it's grey fog with mist and rain can be very very beautiful in a special way. i have a pix of a honda s2000 in misty rain (haven't scanned it though) which is more beautiful than a sunset...

hope bond comes to oz... i'll go and visit the set (take some pix for commanderbond's web site... heheh.. :)

I don't think there's been a rainy scene, and dammit it could be *very* effective, in a gritty, film noir, Spy Who Came In From The Cold sort of way. A fist fight in some bleak European alley, or a car chase with skidding tyres and spraying water everywhere...great potential for something a bit different.
