Why would Orlando Bloom IS Young James Bond be any

I'm not attacking Brosnan, but the overblown and now tired formula of the Bond films he's starred in, with their long pre-credits sequences packed with massive explosions, "personal" storylines, beefed-up roles for M and Moneypenny, etc.
My feeling is that, done properly, a YJB flick could give the cinematic 007 a much-needed shot in the arm. Wouldn't it be cool to see how James Bond became James Bond 007? Maybe they could include Fleming's account of Bond killing those two people in order to become a Double-O (one of them was a Japanese double agent in New York, if memory serves).

The Ideas are not bad, but what about Miramax in this Article?
Is this Bond 21 or a new "Attack of McClory"-like?

I don't know. It's a "whoever does it" scenario, I guess. Weren't there rumours that Eon wanted to sign Bloom, as well as these new reports that Miramax want him?The Ideas are not bad, but what about Miramax in this Article?

Perhaps he could do assassinations during the summer holidays - as Kingsley Amis once pointed out whilst trying to work out Bond's age.

Quite so Seannery. I gather this is a What if.. thread. Thankfully. From what I gather this rumor is totally bogus--Miramax only has the rights to publish the books. THEY HAVE NO RIGHTS WHATSOEVER TO FILM ANYTHING BONDIAN.

The normal Bond shouldn't need training ground. They should and do know how to make classic movies, just put some effort into it.Thanks Qwerty--in that case hypothetically Bloom as young Bond is a bad idea. Maybe some unknown perfectly cast young actor doing a series of topflight TV movies would work as a supplement to the big screen Bond. And may become a training ground for the big screen Bond.

How completely dreadful that would be.Watch Young Jimmy Bond as he is mentored by Liam Neeson in the ways of being a deadly secret agent.....watch as Neeson takes young Jimmy under his wing to his colleagues in the British Secret Service, asking that he be trained in the ways of a '00'...

No Qwerty I mean may become a training ground to find future James Bond actors--honing their suave, action chops and humor. The normal Bond shouldn't need training ground. They should and do know how to make classic movies, just put some effort into it.Thanks Qwerty--in that case hypothetically Bloom as young Bond is a bad idea. Bond is and always will be a 6'1 or 6'2 guy. It's an inflexible 007 trait...If a 007 actor is 5'10 or 5'11 he will not look like James Bond. He will look like a miscast actor pretending to be James Bond. So, that means that
Ewan Mcgregor,Collin Ferril and Orlando Bloom are not solid choices(I do like E.M. alot in 'Down with Love' but he's too short for Bond).

I think because they tried so hard to make Lazenby a Connery clone. Don't think the same could be said for Bloom. He looks very young. You have a point about Bloom being only a few years younger than Lazenby, but Lazenby LOOKED substantially older than Bloom does now.
