Like Heath Ledger!

:) :) :)

Now that is just silly and useless except for something for magazines to throw in.

Exactly my point Qwerty. :)

It's kind of obvious when magazines are doing so, but they still continue...

The majority of speculation makes the point that younger and bigger names are the favorites to be the next Bond. Though I think this is possible I think it is more likely Eon will follow their successful pattern of a 40 something previously considered short lister modestly famed at best actor.

But they've never had this many younger names mentioned or rumoured to this far extent though. So it kind of makes you wonder. Whether they'll be choosing one of the favorites or if modest short lister will be chosen.

It wouldn't surprise me to see him or someone similar announced as Bond, but I can't help but fear it would create a repeat of the Dalton era: they cast a relative unknown and audiences never really warm to him as Bond. Part of the reason Brosnan got such a successful start as Bond is that he was already somewhat known as Remington Steele and had been talked about as Bond before.

Spot on Seanerry,

There has NEVER been a big CINEMA box office actor cast a Bond.

The EON pattern (post Connery) is more or less as you outline it. Actors who have tested in the past and perhaps impressed (unknown to all of us ) have resurfaced for the role.

This guy wasn't even on my radar, and I didn't know he'd tested, but I HAVE seen some of his previous movie work and in retrospect he does impress. He also looks, carries himself, & sounds the part with little stretch of the imagination.

This article sounds more like a well presented choice than fact, but if she is right then either kudo's on a great scoop or at the very least she deserves a finders fee.
I'm now starting to think perhaps, the NEXT Bond will be Gary Lucy.

Well Dalton was mentioned earlier as Bond before he got the role, albeit a much longer time than Brosnan being mentioned and him eventually getting the role. Although Dalton did some good business with The Living Daylights for example, you're correct in that the warming up never took place compared to...Connery for example. Who knows.
