"Bond 20" writers, Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are interested in Setting the next Bond film in the US and using locations such Miami, Las Vegas and Detroit, in fact Detroit production company Bond Films North (No relation in name...they make commercials) has been doing Location Scouts in Detroit, Michigan for the next bond film, the films opening may take place either high atop Cadillac Tower or the Fisher Building according to a assistant in the company. They have also been scouting locations at the MGM Grand Casino in Detroit and Belle Isle (a island on the Detroit River)
I dont know if this has any truth, but makes interesting reading

It could be true.
let me explain my theory.
As you know Bond 21 will maybe Brosnan last bond film.
Did you note that the last film from every bond actors was set in USA. Las Vegas for Connery (DAF), Los Angeles and others USA cities for Moore (AVTAK) and Florida for Dalton (LTK).
So there is a chance that Brosnan will made his last bond in USA
Er well looking at the quality of those three films (from my view point) maybe the pattern should be broken. ;-)

So I guess this is the first official Bond 21 rumor.

It could be more certain than you think. Perhaps Mickey G. and Babs love the DAD script so much that they already told P&W they'd be back for Bond21. Its entirely possible.

I'd choose Chicago
MBE
Me too:) I live in the Chicago area so that would be...well...really cool. The city (downtown on the lakefront) is really cool and would be an awesome place to film a Bond movie. I still remember when they filmed 'The Jackal' with Richard Gere at the Chicago Yacht Club...that was cool. I was like..'I've been in that very spot!!' I keep hoping they will make a Benson novel into a movie because Benson manages to squeeze something about Chicago into almost every one of his novels. I can remember that in one novel there was an explosion of some sort that took place in a suburb called Buffalo Grove, which is where I think Benson lives...although don't quote me on that. I don't live too far from there. If they don't do Chicago, they should do San Francisco again...heh. I'll be at school out there in a few years.

I'll toss my hat on the stand as well. LA could hold a few charms for 007.
Another favorite locale - Pacific Northwest Seattle etc. Lot of cool secluded small islands in Puget Sound.

Bond shouldn't be playing in the CIA's backyard. Aside from Goldfinger, Bond's escapades in the US have been hit and miss, Diamonds Are Forever, Live and Let Die, A View to a Kill...while San Francisco may be a nice locale for a Dirty Harry movie, it sucks as a Bond location...
Nevertheless, I'll eat my words if something does turn out to be true and a good Bond film set in the States comes to be, but I highly doubt it will be good and I doubt there is any truth to this rumor......

As much as I like the US, I dont think that feel to it. I think once we start stepping into the US, then we're messing around on Arnie's, and Bruce Willis' territory, and we're just going to end up with Mission: Impossible - 3.
- I was looking for somewhere, with some sort of magical quality *

MBE was absolutely right about New York being underused in Live and Let Die. Bond is in one of the most important cities on earth and he goes to Harlem? But after Sept. 11, would Bond's brand of mayhem be welcome there? And the only reason I can think of Bond going to Detroit is that Ford now owns Aston Martin. Sort of a cross-promotion favor. You know how the series likes to have its tie-ins.
I just think there are so many other great great places Bond's never been to -- Africa, Australia (too bad the pathetic MI2 got there first), even Canada (although there's too much snow already). If he does come to the U.S., why not have cities bid for it, like the Olympics. Maybe that way I'd have a chance against you guys from L.A. and N.Y. Then again, Springfield, Ohio is closer to the Simpsons than 007.

If Bond DOES come to the US I'd definately say that Detroit is a no-no. And PLEASE KEEP HIM OUT OF THE SOUTH! Living in the south myself, I can't think of a location that could work well for Bond here. It worked in Goldfinger but LALD was just painful to watch sometimes. (And yes, Lousiana IS that ugly and nasty).

Of course, we all know this is from an early draft of Diamonds Are Forever. Are you trying to put one over on us, ThomasCrown76?ThomasCrown76 (29 Mar, 2002 01:55 a.m.):
I have it on good authority that Bond 21 will end on Lake Mead with a boat chase. All of the flotillas and boats that the Los Vegas gamblers use will be commandeered as Bond rallies them against the villain. Bond even shouts out for them to do their duty for Las Vegas.

Dr. Tynan (11 Apr, 2002 11:31 p.m.):
What part of the States is it where the say their R's the same way most people pronounce their Y's (I'm not criticising).
For example...
"Hold that coyd (chord)" "You came foyst (first)"
That's New Yoyk! Also the 'oi' words like 'boil' or 'oil' are pronounced 'berl' and 'erl', respectively. Though I'm not sure of this as my knowledge of New York dialect comes mainly from All in the Family.

There seem to be indications that Bond21 may follow directly on from the story of D.A.D., picking up unresolved plot elements. This might make a return by P&W more likely.

Also for exoticness, Eon should sent Bond to the Yukon Territory. In the summer of course. Here's a world-domination-plot realised: ex-Manitoba Premier Gary Filmon wrote a University paper on how the Mackenzie (I think) river could be diverted to flow the other way if an atomic weapon was set off underground! ^_^ The Mackenzie is in the NWT and Yukon.

Oh shouldn't he? I think it'd be great if Bond finds himself facing off against the 'bad' CIA. Y'know, the guys who smuggled drugs in American solder's bodies from the war in Viet Nam. The guys who pay off the Contras in Colombia. There's so much corruption in the CIA that it would be a fantastic adversary--in my opinion.
Felix Leiter could be working from the inside and Jack Wade could be an incompetent henchman! I think it's time for another incompetent henchman, so Jack Wade it is!
I've even been working on an idea where SMERSH turns out to be the CIA and KGB working together for...(wait for it, it's gonna be good)...WORLD DOMINATION!!

If B21 does venture back into the states, I for one would want to see the caribbean in the mix. Bond back in Jamaica after 30+ years.

But I'd rather he went somewhere he hadn't been before like Australia or parts of Africa or South America.

US cities have a .500 winning percentage with me in past Bond films--while I liked NYC & New Orleans in LALD, California in MR, and Key West in LTK, I didn't like San Francisco in AVTAK, Las Vegas in DAF, or Fort Knox in GF.

Second: I live about a half hour from Detroit, and there are some nice places where scenes could be set (and probably some not so nice places). I at one time envisioned a Bond fight in the rafters of the Fox theatre. Maybe one of the theaters or the orchestra hall could squeeze him in.
On a side note, doesn't it just fit that it would be the MGM grand casino since it's MGM that makes the films? Wonder if they'd take that chance to plug their own company.
