Didn't know whether the laugh or cringe at this one from Cinescape:
[quote]Secret agent Baz?
Could director Baz Luhrmann take up the helming chores for James Bond 21?
In discussing the 10-year journey director Baz Luhrmann undertook to produce his trilogy of cinematic experimentation - STRICTLY BALLROOM, ROMEO + JULIET and MOULIN ROUGE - the filmmaker pondered what the next decade would hold in store for his career. While far from a firm commitment, he let slip this little tidbit sure to ignite speculation among genre fans everywhere.
"I think to myself I'd love to do a James Bond film," says Luhrmann when prognosticating future projects.

James Bond cha-cha-cha.

Can't see it working. Whatever creativity he would bring to the party (a lot) it is likely to be stamped out by the demands of the producers, the studio, the formula, whatever.
I agree with the current process of one director per film; too many Bond films and they get stale (and you know who you are, Messrs. Hamilton and Glen). But I haven't expected directorial flourishes from any of the newer Bond films, and I doubt I ever will.
