It's time to pick the book to be read by the book club for July. Ofcourse, that's no reason to stop discussing Moonraker, which you can keep doing here at the Blades Library Book Club for as long as you want.

Since the members have so far voted to read the books in cronological order each time, a vote for Diamonds Are Forever this time will be a vote to read the rest of the Fleming's in order, and we'll probably scrap the "next book" poll for now.

But you may want to shake things up. It might be intresting to move away from the order. Goldfinger and For Your Eyes Only are latter Fleming books that have limited continuity and can read out of order. Or you may like to try Colonel Sun, or a John Garnder or Raymond Benson novel, it might be nice to see how different writer goes about Bond. We can always come back to Diamonds afterwards.

I've chosen the books for the poll based on what members suggested previously. If anyone has another book they want to vote for, I'll be happy to add it to the poll.

The poll will be open until about June 25th.

I'm in the mood now that we've done a bit of Fleming, to read a bit of Gardner.

Therefore my vote is for Licence Renewed.

I think I'd like to discuss Colonel Sun next time round. I haven't read it before and I was just about to read it anyway.

I'd like to continue to read the Fleming novels in order, personally. I don't have any interest in the Benson and Gardner continuation novels as I don't consider them to be of a standard comparable to Fleming.

I agree.

Do it order, while I have time purchasing the Gardner books.

My vote is to continue in order. :)
Bring on Diamonds Are Forever, then the Blades Book Club can continue on to the Fleming classics From Russia With Love, Doctor No and Goldfinger.
Personally, I can't wait. :)

It's been a while since I've read DAF but as I recall it was quite excellent so I think we should continue in order but i have no objections to switching style and reading Benson.

Diamonds are Forever. Quite a good book, pretty underrated in my view. Tiffany is well written.

Ah, that's cool I guess. Diamonds Are Forever is such a better book than it is given credit for.
