My Two favorite movies of the year so far:

VAN HELSING (I really liked this movie, but then I am a big fan of the old B-movie horror pictures).

and

HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABHAN (Best of the three in my opinion, dark and moody with a great twist at the end).

I don't like Harry Pothead.

I, Robot seems alright. I love the book!

@ Gabe Viera

Yes, I did read the first book and I found it ... well, quite annoying. I've also seen the first 20 minutes or so of the first movie and it wasn't my cup of tea either, so I guess I won't see POA.

I don't like Harry Pothead.

To each his own, but after seeing the third movie I am looking forward to Harry Potter 4 more than I am Bond 21...I thought the third one was really well done.

It's only been out for two weeks and its already close to equalling Die Another Day entire US box office haul (just pennies shy of $100 million in its first three days of release).

I am not crazy about Potter at all, but I will say that seeing this film with my younger sister, it was the most mature of the three, and therefore the most enjoyable.

Bond 21 will be number one on my list though, obviously.

Has anyone seen "Two Brothers" with the tigers as the film's stars? It found the film very fascinating, and poignant. It also has a OCTOPUSSY element to it; the film is set in India and there are some elphant/tiger hunt sequences in the film. Also, Bond candiaite Guy Pearce appeared in the film. It's the #2 best movie I've seen this year, after Shrek 2. I highly reccommend it, it's a real tearjerker! :)

It must be quite a movie. Every time I went to a theatre, there was always a trailer for it. I thought it might look like a failed experimient, with not too much of a storyline, but while not my style of a movie, it does look like fine for the box office.

Under favourite films of the year can go - Disappointments of the year;

Exorcist - The Begining (The entire film is like a send-up of the series)

Ladies In Lavender - (Spoilt by the two leads giving theatrical performances
in a film)

Surpise of the year:

A Vs P (Wonderful and very exciting. Entire film feels very much (unlike the other films in the series) a nightmare. Even its production design in straight out of my dreams.

The Exorcist did stink.

I can't believe you liked "AVP". It was a disaster, but it's your opinion, and I respect that. :)

My favorite movies of this year are:

1. The Incredibles
2. Spider-Man 2
3. The Bourne Supremacy

This year turned out to be a pretty good year for movies, better than I had thought it would be. Spiderman-2 and Kill Bill Vol2 were highlights.

Michael Mann's "COLLATERAL"
Yet another crime masterpiece delivered with style, power and grace.
Probably one of Cruise's best roles.

Okay, my top 10 for 2004 (well, top seven, actually, since I think these seven were the only films I saw at the cinema this year):

1. LOST IN TRANSLATION (released in the UK in January)

2. THE BOURNE SUPREMACY

3. KILL BILL VOL. 2 (not nearly as inventive or dazzling as VOL. 1, and the Quentmeister shows signs of laziness and self-parody; still a cracking film, though, since Tarantino not quite at the top of his game is still, well, awesome)

4. FAHRENHEIT 9/11

5. THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES

6. COLLATERAL (good stuff, but doesn't approach HEAT)

7. SPIDER-MAN 2

Me too. Nothing like a huge, sweeping epic finale. Out of the three parts, ROTK was the one that really nailed it for me.

Just seen the Johnny Depp film "Secret Window" - it is excellent and a terrifically clever ending!

View Post

No offense, but the ending was more of a cop-out to me, if anything. I don't know if the book came out before Fight Club, or really care, but they used that ending already. Seeing it twice just kind of spoils it.

The Bourne Supremacy was #1 for me. That, followed by Saw and Dodgeball.
