Just found this piece of news which is dated May 29th, but nobody seems to have noticed so far :) Empire Online reports:

Baywatch Bond Baddie?
David Hasselhoff has announced an unexpected ambition. Not only would the German pop sensation like to sing a Bond theme, but he has his eye on a part in the film as well. "I like the idea of being a Bond baddie, " he said. "I can do bad." Well, quite.

Now this is the funniest rumour I have heard lately :) :)

K.I.T.T. for Bond Car! :)

Yeah its funny.

The thing is though Hasselhoff's personality and everything is always hard to take seriously, if he wasn't tell well known for the wrong reasons, he could be a good baddie actually, tall and menancing over Bond, he played a baddie in Knight Rider, Michael Knight's Brother with a moustach, he was convincing.

Laughable at first, but he wouldn't do that bad of a job. But there's tons more great actors deserving for villian.

All the more reason for it to be invisible again.

Actually, I'd quite like to see this. He'd be great. It descended into farce years ago, so why not? Perhaps he could play Mr Freeze or something.

What if Hasselhoff plays an ageing has-been American pop singer (who's only big in Germany) who used to be an actor?

In an attempt to gain world control through the subliminal messages in his songs the German people and it's military become brainwashed and his slaves.

He then gets them to go on a rampage of world domination whilst driving his custom built black car with turbo boost etc.

It is then upto Bond to stop this madman and somehow destroy the car.

So plausible ... :)

Pamela Anderson could play Moneypenny and one day whilst relaxing on Bond's huge yacht suddenly decides it would be fun to film her and Bond as they relax on the yacht, in the car, in the bedroom etc etc etc.

The film then gets into Hasselhoff's hands and he threatens to release it on the internet unless Bond backs off (or becomes one of his backing singers).

Oooohhhh oooohhhhh copyright. I'm claiming copyright on this idea.

Damn I'm hot today! :)

I think it would be perfect casting...........for an Austin Powers movie. Somehow Hasselhoff is lacking in cool.

It's a pity that the Bond's are so heavily dependant on the US market that makes this notion seem rather implausible.

I can't really see him as a villain, or have any other acting role in a Bond movie, but he'd be rather good singing a Bond song. It'd go Top 3 all over Europe for one thing.

I'd never taken into thought him ever performing a James Bond title song.

If he did end up in it (of course it's a funny rumor, I haven't gone totally insane....yet), would this be the first Bond film to make more money in Germany than anywhere else on the planet? :)

I don't understand the whole thing. David Hasselhoff is big over here? He was big, but that was in the early 1990s. He had one number one hit ("Looking for freedom") and "Baywatch" and "Knight Rider" were rather succesfull. But still... I'm sure there are a lot of people over here who haven't ever heard of him.
