Can anyone confirm if James Bond will also be driving the soon to be unveiled super fast Land Rover Range Stormer for Bond 21?

The Land Rover Chronicle.com has reported rumours that this might be the case. The Range Stormer would be used in the rugged outback scenes.

Thanks for the welcome. I hope this rumour is true, I am a big Land Rover fan. The Range Stormer was a concept, the production model is expected to have 4 doors. There are rumours of a 2-door version though so I am not sure.

Actually it is expected to wear the Land Rover Range Sport badge or Range Rover Sport badge. It is also rumoured to have 450hp Jaguar V8 under the bonnet.

Here is a Spy Photo of 2005 Range Sport (Range Stormer), expected to be unveiled at next years Detroit show...

If this news follows through, I remember years ago I mentioned in a car wish related thread that Bond should have a vehicle of purpose. This was during or just after the days of BMW so naturally the X5 was put forward. As such, it does look to be a vehicle with a mission so, great.

Looks to be fairly standard fare, for Range Rover and for Bond films.

Great if it's a 'multi-purpose vehicle' like Simon says (and we see more than just doodads popping out of the air vents), but probably yet another signature vehicle for villain's goons in a chase.

Get the adverts in first; actors are pretty low down the list of priorities.

Bond in a SUV...OK, if it's related to where he is, and it's not because MGM want to capture the school-run protective mother demographic by having him drive one of these horrible things around suburban London.

What's of real interest is this business about where he drives it - do they know something nobody else does?

Or is this just an attempt to make this car look interesting, latching onto the Bond name? Still, misrepresentation or not, I guess it still shows that the Bond name sells.

Sorry, how uncontrolled but I find the idea that James Bond, a man who has always driven Bentleys, Aston Martins, Lotus cars, should drive the most ordinary of British cars. There's no getting round it - it's a Land Rover. Farmers, Country Folk, Women with many children and a dog drive Land Rovers; James Bond does not.

It's an ordinary, boring, run-of-the-mill 4x4 and unless Bond's latest mission is to pick up his illegitimate son from soccor practice - not football - then I can't fathom any use Beavis and Butthead will put on it.

Also when the last Land Rover was released it had 500 in-built faults.

Yes, I know you also have the stress of that civilian you scattered when the mortar cannons malfunctioned but can I remind you that it is covered by your warranty. You'll be driving this rather old Rover 400 series equipped with all the optional extras available in 1994. Now pay attention OO7. Left and right front wing headlamps. Glass not bullet proof but the back window does heat up so you can see out on a frosty morning. Now this I'm particularly proud of. You see this button here? No whatever you do don't touch it! Because you will engage and fire the car's boombuster megathumin' base tape player and we haven't quite worked out how to fix the volume yet."

Not sure but a Bentley is not boring to me. Niether is a Range Rover, Discovery or a Defender. Freelander is quite sporty also.

The question you should be asking is which is more reliable Astons or Land Rovers? hmmmm - That one has me stumped also. Oh yeah, Astons need more frequent maintenance ugh ugh I mean tuning.

I read this last night and wasn't sure what to make of it. I don't want to be seeing Bond driving one of these though anytime soon.

Seems like it would be slightly boring and out of place.

Well, I have always been a big Land Rover fan and have always thought they had just as much character as any Aston Martin. I also thought the Range Stormer concept was very radical for a Land Rover but it seems that most on here were not very impressed. Oh well no big deal.

I am also looking forward to seeing the DB9 in Bond21 and at the moment I just can't picture any other Bond than Brosnan. Although I wonder if the sale of MGM to Sony will have Connery coming out of retirement. There were rumours several years ago that Sony was going to do a remake of Thunderball with Sean Connery.

to be honest, even though its a British brand name, the aesthetics of the vehicle scream "american" - its big, bold and brash, lacking in style and sublety of past bond vehicles (Bentley, Aston etc). No anti-american sentiments are intended here, but IMO the style is v much influenced by that across the pond, which could subtract from the appeal of this car to Bond fans.

I think you missed the point (read CBn's Main Page Story Again). You see according to the report... James Bond WOULD be bombing around London in his Aston Martin. The Range Rover would be used elsewhere. In Everything or Nothing (yes, I know it's a video game, but it's movie enough for me) Bond drives a Porsche Cayenne Turbo... an SUV. I'm not necessarily ini favor of Bond driving a SUV, but you know... it could work depending on the circumstances. Think of all 20 Bond films that have been made so far, I'm sure there are some vehicles that 007 drives that don't seem Bondish. The Citron in For Your Eyes Only. the van in The Spy Who Loved Me, etc etc...

I am not sure what the big deal is. Land Rovers have appeared in almost every James Bond Film with some very significant roles. I would rather Bond drove a Range Rover than a BMW 7-series or Z3 roadster which seem further away from the Bond character then ever before. A British secret agent driving a large German sedan?

My favorite of course is the convertible Range Rover Roger Moore was riding in for the movie Octopussy. I would take that Rover in a heart beat.

I think there are some 4x4 haters. I don't blame you, Land Rovers are appearing everywhere around town instead of their intended use in the country. But the article did say that the Rover would be used in the outback of Africa or Australia. Could be a cool scene in the movie. Imagine Bond in the outback coming under attack from other vehicles, then all of a sudden he takes off on a high speed chase guns shooting and a few close calls. Eventually Bond comes to a rugged hill, pushes a button for the air-suspension to raise the ground clearance, then climbs the hill and turns around to fires the rocket launcher or something similar and takes out the enemy. Then cut to Bond driving off to a luxury hotel with his Bond girl and sends her up to her room to get ready for a night in the Casino.

Could happen and that sounds like a classic James Bond scene.
