Fans of Hugh Jackman are looking forward to Van Helsing for two reasons - either to see their action hero strut his stuff battling the vamps and monsters, or those scenes hinted at in the trailer where he stumbles around in a loincloth and goes swinging around on ropes Tarzan style.

Well it seems fans of the latter who want more may get it. British tabloid The Daily Star was talking about Hugh Jackman being a candidate for 007 recently and mentioned the following excerpt:

"And why hasn't year old Hugh Jackman put his hand up to play deboniar James Bond, a role he seems unashedamly tailor-made for? He has his sights on a slightly more underdressed hero, Tarzan: Lord of the Jungle.

Set to be written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, the new Tarzan would be set in the modern day, where the former King of the Jungle moves to the City, where he appoints himelf a new savior to those in despair. A studio source say Jackman has already expressed interest in the film. "Not only is he in the right phyiscal shape for the role, but he's got the acting chops to really pull this off"

It's an interesting possibility, especially since the last person to take on the role was a fellow Aussie, the overflowing lunchbox CK model Travis Fimmel in the short lived WB series "Tarzan".

that's good , if he is indeed going to be Tarzan.
I prefer Clive Owen , he has the "bond look" and intensity of the character.

No reason why he can't play Tarzan AND James Bond.

IF I had the good fortune to be producing the James Bond series, I'd want an actor that was going to become a huge box office draw by establishing himself in big projects that were popular, rather than the sort of movies that Brosnan has been making between Bonds that attracy small audiences.

And note it says he has only "expressed interest."

I would want to see Jackman play Bond rather than some of the other names that have been mentioned, so if someone is to take over, hopefully it will maybe be Jackman, and his schedule will allow it.

I agree that Hugh Jackman should be 007 and you idiots think Owen has a bond are a piece of trash. Owen said no, because he said it was just rumors. Owen doesn't have a Bond look at all and his face looked like a range from 40-50 year old.

This is the message for Hugh Jackman: Please Hugh don't take Tarzan over 007, please, you are the only 1 on the list who will take over as James Bond after Pierce Brosnan and take the 007 movie to the box office.

I'll pray for you Hugh Jackman as James Bond 007.

it looks more and more like Pierce will be bond for a 6th go. it also seems that my choice Clive Owen will then be bond afterwards

One more for Brosnan, and even if Jackman was out for sure, leaves the spot open for too many other contenders.

Just in my opinion, I'm not crazy about him, but I'd see the film if he was and maybe I'd like him, cannot judge fairly yet.

Exactly, and looking at the others, he seems to be one of the top contenders, and being interested in the other project is fine, but I wonder what he would do if he was given the offer today at this moment.

I would only accept Clive Owen as James Bond if he were able to return the character to the Fleming side of the fence. He has the look of the literary Bond which is not that of a highly attractive action star, rather a battle-worn, scar-covered, beaten and bruised alcoholic womaniser leading a sophisticated yet modest life only to bearly survive his assignments.

However the odds on favourite is for a plot involving a time machine and warp drive.

Why anybody thinks they could do a fresh angle on Tarzan is beyond me. The Coen Brothers have never done anything action-oriented before, but would make it intersting if anybody could. But to sacrifice an ongoing sure thing like Bond with something with a track record as spotty as Tarzan doesn't seem like it would be the wisest choice to me.

If that gives Owen the inside track or brings Brosnan closer to the fold, so be it.

He is not going to do a cheesy Tarzan movie at age 35! They did a series on the WB with that exact premise starring a 25-ish guy and it tanked...He will do Bond unless Owen gets the call first.

LOL! Yes, I remember seeing something on television about that. Get a Calvin Klein underwear model and make him Tarzen...sure hit.

I believe that show got like 3 episodes or so, if I recall from the paper correctly.

Brosnan said: They have talked to owen and jackman.

Now Jackmen people say no phone call, so Pierce can be equally wrong on Owen.

Either way you wouldn't know who was Bond until it is announced.

Look Connery was an unknown before taking the role of James Bond and he was way successful. When Lazenby took over as 007 between Connery's Bond Films, he was also an unknown and he wasn't successful, then I read the book that the producers tired of unknown actors, so they go someone who was a medium star like Roger Moore who was successful, even Pierce Brosnan. Hugh Jackman is the right choice, but you are wrong when you think of him as the terrible. You Clive Owen's fans face fact, the producers will never hire an unknown actor like Connery in a million years, Connery was the best unknown actor who played 007 ever.

Clive Owen's fans read this:
OWEN SUCKS OWEN SUCKS OWEN SUCKS
Does Owen want to be 007: NO
Clive Owen: NO
Clive Owen: NO
Clive Owen: NO
Clive Owen: NO
His face is too old like a 45 to 50 year old and he is a real terrible choice. Owen said he still doesn't want to play 007 ever.

As for Hugh Jackman, please don't play Tarzan ever, please I'm begging you on my knees with all the power of God Mighty that you are James Bond 007, please take the role that's what most Jackman's fans want. I wish Hugh Jackman was the next James Bond 007 right now.

I actually think Jackman would be better as Tarzan than as James Bond.

but..

He may end up doing both
He may end up doing neither

Also, Van Hanwhatever looks like the sort of thing that may have sequels if it's any good (or even if it isn't).

IF Jackman has signed for Bond and he's been given his shooting schedule, assuming all that, then of course he is going to be looking at other movie work to do between the Bond movies.

It sounds like he's making some shrewd choices, going for movies that are going to be popular, rather than small artistic movies, and that will take him to the top of the A list.
