I seem to remember that origianlly Wai Lin was to be named Lin Pao. But Michelle Yeoh objected because roughly translated, it means nice buns. Am I remembering right?

Hrm, I can say "Lin" means squeeze, but I'm not sure what Pao is supposed to be.

Hmm, I only learned about this from CBn a while back, I remember there was a thread about this and that Yeoh objected to the original name, but I don't remember what it was translated to in English. :)

One of the Chinese characters pronounced "bao" (not "pao") in Mandarin can mean "bun", although it would need to be combined with another character in order to do so. "Lin Pao" could mean a vast number of things, depending on the characters used.

The character commonly used for the surname "Lin" means "woods", "grove" or "forest".
