Timmothy Dalton with out doubt made the right decision to turn down the role of James Bond for OHMSS because he was too young. By turning down the role he managed to get it when he suited James Bond.
Does anyone agree/disagree.
Made the right decision

I've never been convinced that he was considered for OHMSS (though I do have a TV WEEK mag from 1968 saying Roger Moore had been chosen).
Dalton was in the running for DAF, though. I've got an Australian "Movie News" from1970 tipping that he'd be signed.
I agree it was better that he waited till he was older.
Anyone ever seen a spy film called "Permission To Kill"? [Very Bondish title]. Dalton is pressured into spying for England by ruthless MI6 boss Dirk Bogarde. Dalton shows his potential as Bond, even though his character is gay!

yes he was too young. I think he would have been about 22.
22! That would have definately been too young.

OHMSS? Good lord. He would have been so young it wouldn't have been funny!
Undoubtedly he couldn't have taken over then. Bond would have been far too young.
