Just came across this TB prop on eBay. The seller can't guarantee it was the actual vulcan model that was in the film.
I remember some ten years ago Dave Worrall ran a story in 007 Collector on a Vulcan model (I believe it was on display at some airfield, together with the airplane used in Octopussy). Does anyone know if that model was the same one as the one that is now on eBay? (Dave was 100% convinced that 'his' model was an original)

Interesting. Thanks for the heads up, J.J. I made this a Main Page story.

Interesting article. Quite a few intriguing Bond film props showing up on there lately.

My brother is the person who is listing one of the Vulcan models on eBay. We believe them to be authentic, but are quite certain neither one of them was used in the final cut (through a detailed still video analysis). I actually came across the Vulcans quite by accident during a business trip to the Bahamas last year. We have been trying for months to authenticate them, and recently caught a very good break. We were able to make contact with the director of underwater engineering for Thunderball. He told us that the 6' model (like the two in our possession) was used to slide down wires off the coast of New Providence, Bahamas (crash sequence). A smaller Vulcan model was used for the actual sinking (when the landing gear extends), and the largest model (which is shown being constructed in the Thunderball documentary) was used for the sequence when the bombs are off-loaded. So, it appears at least three different sized Vulcan models were used for the entire scene. We suspect our models were prototypes and took a beating in the production of the crash-landing sequence, as it was said to be one of the most difficult special effects of the movie. That said, they are in great shape for being 40 years old. Thanks to John for giving us some pub on the website!! Chris

Not sure which model this relates to, but a few years back, at the Planet Hollywod in Washington DC, hung a Vulcan bomber model, and the card attached referred to Thunderball.

I know this string is a bit wiskery but I've only just come accross it.... As mentioned above the largest (14' wingspan) model, now resides in our hanger with her big sister XH558.... due to fly later this year... The model belongs to C Walton Ltd and is my charge... should any of you care to visit our two Vulcans send me an e-mail on...... [email protected] .....and I will arrange it,.... for a small donation to the project funds... Follow the attached link to our web cams, select camera 4 and she will be revealed..... http://www.tvoc.co.uk/webcam.php

Hi XH558, any chance that the smaller XH558 will be visiting Duxford again soon?

Hopefully, her (much) larger sister will be visiting next year?
