Picked up "John" by Cynthia Lennon again (after almost a year break!) and it's really getting interesting now.

The Beatles certainly had a lot of fun before 1963, when they suddenly went huge.

"Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows"

Yeah, I didn't get to read it while involved in my summer programs cuz I didn't have time. Now I'm playing catch up cuz M (mom) wants to discuss spoilers with me...

I just finished King Rat. I'd forgotten how good that book was. Now I'm starting Noble House, also by Clavell.

Just finished Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows this evening.. Fantastic book and it brings the whole series to a satisfactory conclusion.. I feel sort of sad and empty that this is the last book.. Oh well at least we still have the last two movies to look forward to, and I can always start the cycle over again by re-reading Harry Potter and The Sorceror's Stone again!!

I do think though, that I'm the only children's library worker in American who isn't reading Harry Potter right now.. I've actually never read any of them :cooltongue:

Too busy reading Bond

BTW - Much looking forward to the Captain America in Afghanistan mini-series DM has penned for Marvel. Due out September

Does he go one-on-one with Bin Laden? This series sounds like a sick joke.

Nothing like that. Cap comes to the rescue of an injured US soldier who's become separated from his unit. There's some suggestion that the series is set in our reality, where Cap is a childhood comic book hero that the soldier conjures up from his imagination. In other words, don't expect to see him taking out Al-Qaeda single handed.

Slogged my way to the end of The Bourne Betrayal. It's the Die Another Day of Bourne novels. Jason's now an 80's style action hero who speed skates off frozen waterfalls to escape pursuit and caries a gadgetised Sony PSP into the field. Tired story (Jihadists plot to nuke Washington) relies on clumsy leaps of logic to move forward. The car chases and hand-to-hand combat have some of the energy of similar scenes in the movies, but it's not enough. Whatever incarnation of the character is your favourite, your likely to find Lustbader's book a downer.

I've just started today Jane Austen's Pride and prejudice (free digital version available here : http://etext.lib.vir...oks/Alist.html) (yeah, I know, it didn't hit the bookshelves yesteday, but I'm a bit late in my readings... ;-).

Before that, it was a series of 3 Bond fan fictions during the holidays : fans of the Fleming books will certainly enjoy Evan Willnow's Mightier than the sword, and, in a different style, I also recommend Fenna Geelhoed's Off balance and Past bearing : those books offer an interesting mix between the litterary Bond and the movies, but the main character is not Bond himself, but a fellow female Double-0. All ebooks are available in the fan fiction section : http://commanderbond.net/article/1731

Just finnished Bram Stoker's Dracula.
Really enjoyed it, the Gothic atmosphere he created and the imagery used was fantastic.

- do they living dead really exist? I can think of some parts in DAD where they appeared.
