Rumour has it Mission: Impossible 3 is out in 2005, so that would be in direct competition with Bond 21. MI3 is scheduled for summer and Bond the winter, but even so, that might be another reason to delay Bond till 2006.

Do we want to see two similar sort of action-spy movies out in 2005? I reckon MGM would prefer Bond to be the only one out. As Loomis says, "things change."

Well, MI:3 may come out in June, July '05 the latest. Judging the "runs" of contemporary blockbusters, MI:3 could end it's run by October, early November at the latest. That would still leave MGM with "breathing room." The way things have been going nowadays, folks'll actually be looking forward to the next blockbuster once the previous one bows out.

Donovan, while it may be tempting to sell the Bond franchise, the folks at EON regard it as "theirs." An emotional attachment exists- not only with Broccoli and Wilson but to many of the production staff who've worked on the series. The British also have an emotional stake in what happens with "their James." It's the commonwealth's biggest film franchise and despite the "reworkings" of the character and the series, you can't underestimate English pride.

I can't see them giving it up just yet. However, they've got plenty of work to do in order to make their Nov. '05 release date.

Check out Ain't It Cool News for some very interesting information on M:I-3 (well, I think it's interesting, anyway :) ).

Wow! Another film sequel scheduled for 2005?!?

So far we have Bond 21, Batman 5, Indiana Jones WAS for 2005, Star Wars III, I've heard rumors about Jurassic Park and now this one too!

Going to be an interesting year for movies.

Much like the Bond movies then....

Actually I think EON lost all interest in 007 when MGM pulled the plug on the Jinx spin-off...

I have to say that they used up all the Austin Powers formula in #3, but who knows, they might surprise us yet again.

I really can't see how EON would lose interestin in 007, when it was a Jinx film cancelled, wouldn't that just push them harder to make sure Bond 21 is even better?

I sure hope it will be.
