I have all the OO7 Extras...and, yes, it was called For Your Eyes Only first and I only have 1 of these. I'm getting some copies from my same friend who helped me complete my OO7's. I might JUST do OO7 Extra, or hold off until I have them all. I'll do Bondage next. They only did a dozen or so issues. Much eaiser. You will certainly have your work cut out for you there. Didn't they swap and change the format and title of this interim publication a few times?Yes, I will do 007 Extra ............
I'm sure the details are in all the 007 magazines but 007 Extra and For Your Eyes Only were some of the titles they played with and these don't seem to be as well documented as the existence of the main publication.
Best of luck!

Of course, I never thought of that. I've heard Eon's treatment of the club has never been great. I also heard this started with the Lazenby interview. Is this true, or a Bond urban myth?
And a bias is fine. These are fanzines. They express a point of view of that collection of fans. And, as I said, Roger got some nice covers on 007 Extra.
Thanks for the compliments, everyone. [/quote]
I thought I had heard that as well somewhere, but can't back it up in any way.
I thought this may make a possible new thread based on on some of this: EON had differences with the American fan club; apparently has had differences with the British fan club; censored the early laser disc commantaries; tried to abort Stephen Jay Rubin's The James Bond films book back in the early 1980s after initially being cooperative.

Go for it. You could call it "Does EON Hate Bond Fans?"I thought this may make a possible new thread based on on some of this: EON had differences with the American fan club; apparently has had differences with the British fan club; censored the early laser disc commantaries; tried to abort Stephen Jay Rubin's The James Bond films book back in the early 1980s after initially being cooperative.

I can't be that callous. Maybe "Is EON Productions full of control freaks?"Go for it.
In all seriousness, I may start that thread later this afternoon.

I like Graham, but he hasn't exactly treated Eon well either. He has often bitten the hand that feeds him. Not that great of an idea when you publish a James Bond fan magazine for a living. I know that Eon contacted several of their former cast and crew members and told them not to talk to anyone associated with the JBIFC.You are right about the treatment of the fan club by EON. I personally think over the years it has been disgraceful. They don't seem to like any critisism of the films at all, and when Roger Moore was Bond it seems you couldn't write about any of the other Bonds. It seems they didn't exist. The situation reached its head when the fanclub covered NSNA. EON seemed very upset any coverage was afforeded this film and tried to sue the fan club for damages over the use of the 007 with gun logo. Hence the change of logo at that time. I remember Graham showing me the letter from them claiming damages, in great dismay. I feel the treatment of Graham over the years by them has been terrible. The man has been one of the greatest 007 fans I know and freely promoted their product for years. But thats what you get when you cross such corporate mentality.
Having said that, Graham does put out a great magazine and I'm proud to be friends with most of the contributers.

How has he done this? What I find strange is how two entities that can obviously benefit from each other can have such a feud that everybody suffers from it.I like Graham, but he hasn't exactly treated Eon well either. He has often bitten the hand that feeds him. Not that great of an idea when you publish a James Bond fan magazine for a living. But having said that over the years there are certain people who treated the fan club really well.
I will forever remember going for a meal with Terence Young and Molly Peters after a showing of 'Thunderball' at the NFT. Dinner with George Lazenby and Lois Maxwell before the 1994 convention at Pinewood. Discussing the future of computer Graphics with Maurice Binder and many more wonderful memories. These would not have happened without the JBBFC and Graham Rye. The man gets a lot of stick and believe me I have had reason to complain in the past but what an incredible fanzine we've had and from my own point of view what great fun I've had. EON's point of view I find depressing because apart from the films they produce, the treatment of fans is terrible. I found no other franchise be it Dr Who, Star Trek etc that treats the fans with the contempt they do.

Zencat, any idea which is the more rare or desirable copy of issue 17? I believe I have the fan club version in my collection, but am not positive. Not a big deal, just a bit curious.I did a little updating... I included pics of the two "mini" issues of #27 and #29, and included the varient newstand issue #17 (thanks to Simon for helping me out with this one).
It's aged off the main page, but you can still view it HERE.

This will be pure speculation, but this was a one-off that didn't work so the newsagents didn't carry any further issues of the magazine.Zencat, any idea which is the more rare or desirable copy of issue 17? I believe I have the fan club version in my collection, but am not positive. Not a big deal, just a bit curious.
Based on this, as most people will have been members by then, presumeably it follows that most members will have the posted version. Ergo, if you want to know which is the rarest, I am guessing the newstand version. I don't know anyone who commented on the variations at the time so it probably wasn't picked up by completist fans.
As to which is the more desirable......hmm. They're both the same as far as the main content is concerned.

Bondage is long gone. I don't think the IFF has officially put Goldeneye to rest, but I don't think there's another issue in the works at the moment.Aren't those two publications, especially Bondage, out of production?
