I've always considered John Cusack as part of my childhood of guilty pleasure teen movies (well not really, because some weren't perky as the others 80's teen movies) such as Say Anything, One crazy summer, and my favorite Better off Dead. He's all grown up, and each time I go to the video store, I find myself renting his movies. My two favorite films of his High Fidelity and Grosse Pointe Blank. They are examples of how good this actor could play as the underdog, and a person who's just misunderstood. GPB, I've seen at least over twenty times. High Fidelity - I have not the read book, but this movie really hits close to home with me, I love it, and its Frears, and I think it's a neat idea defining your love life as a top five chart. I think the reason why I'm so captivated by Cusack is well he play characters of men who I've encountered during my lifetime (well not exactly a hit guy) but the personality. Now of course, I can't let him go off that easy, I really didn't like American Sweethearts - but that's not his fault. However, does anyone like his films?

here here! Whoo Hoo! He IS a Genius. I do love his work. He picks some of the best rolls for himself. I've always enjoyed watching him work.

Not to mention, he's quite the looker. :)

While I don't have that kind of connection with Cusack, can I join in as I too dig Cusack and have only recently realized how much I really like his stuff. I remember him 20 years ago in stuff like Class and 16 Candles and have kind of followed his career since and it's always nice to see what he's coming up with next.

One of the things he does well is mixing commercial projects with more personal ones. I'd even go as far as to say he's the actor I think represents my generation best (we are roughly the same age). While most of us guys look up to people like Sean Connery or other tough guy actors, most of us are a lot closer to Cusack.

I just watched High Fidelity again the other night and consider it one of the best films of the current decade. And a friend of mine is a huge fan of Say Anything.

You need to rent Max. Great film with a magnificent performance by Noah Taylor and a not too shabby one by John Cusack either. A very interesting little picture.....

ZenCat's been trying to get me to watch "Max" ...I may just have to give it. I'm sure it's good, just haven't been in the right mood.

oh speeking of John Cusack, I love "Identity" :)

I liked him in Con Air. And no, I don't have any taste whatsoever. :)

I almost saw Identity but chose Matrix Reloaded instead. Needless to say around hour four thousand of that film I was beginning to have doubts about the choice I made. :)

You definetly need to be in the right mood to watch Max. Not a movie to watch while drinking with a bunch of friends. You need to give it it's own time and be in the proper mind set to watch it.

Agree with your sentiments Turn. Athena, I'll give ya some dap on that as well.
Yes I do too look forward to John Cusack films and upcoming projects.
Joan, his sister is an interesting actress as well. Different styles of acting, but they do well on the screen together.

I do like his stuff too, he's like a poor man's Tom Cruise. A good looking guy but his movies seem to be odd, not mainstream. But when you watch them you end up enjoying them more then you expected.
High Fidelity is absolute ace but is still like GPB the best. Not only Cusack is on a roll, the whole cast is swinging and the music is great. Whenever I lend this film to somebody they end up returning it and being very impressed. :)

I like that 'the poor man's tom cruise' although the poor man have better taste if the choose john cusack, i'm sorry to say that, but I don't care that much for tom cruise anymore.
Didn't cusack written grosse pointe blanke and high fidelity?

Identity is an excellent thriller and it's really down to Cusack - but that is not to say that the rest of the cast don't contribute. They are all in excellent form.

And the twist, oh man, I just loved it.

Actually I really should buy High Fidelity and Grosse Point Blank - no DVD collection is complete without them.
