Sounds pretty cool. Anybody got $5,000 laying around they don't need?

I don't even have $1... infact, I don't have 1 cent laying around that I don't need... sorry G. :)

I just want to travel, and if it involved Bond all the better. But $5,000 just isn't workable. Though when you consider that includes airfare, transport, and hotels, it's not too crazy a figure.

I know the feeling. :)

And yes, considering all that it comes with, five thousand is actually pretty darn good.

I'd love to go to this, but I don't think I can afford it. $5000 is a bit much even for what you do get, I think. I'm interested to see if they get the 20 people they need in order to go.

$5k? I better get a flight in Little Nellie, my own Geisha Girl for the entire stay, and a chance to put on a Gozilla costume and stomp some models of downtown Tokyo.

Considering the 5K inclides airfare, hotel, and food, I'd say it's resonable. In fact, for Japan, it might even be a deal.

If it was $2500 and less days, I would take a swing at it!

Ack, another Bond location, with others such as Goldeneye and Piz Gloria that I've always wanted to visit. Hopefully, later in life, I'll get the chance to check out these great locations! :)

Sounds very much worth doing, particularly if you've never been to Japan. But I wonder whether it would be a smarter move to make your own way there and do your own thing, while still attending things like the Raymond Benson-hosted dinner.

Don't be fooled: Japan isn't nearly as expensive and/or "difficult" a destination as some will try and lead you to believe (at any rate, it's quite a bargain compared to "ripoff Britain"). A tip for anyone planning a holiday there: a Japan Rail Pass is an absolute must.

Damn...

It's just the timing of the damn thing.

Now that I see the schedule, it does seem to allow for some down time in between everything.

I may have business in the UK then...

*contemplates*

Damn.

So I called and reserved my spot yesterday. At first I thought 5 grand was too expensive, then I realized it was about right...now, after seeing this itinerary, I realize it's a bargain for what this trip offers. Heck I've spent 5 grand on a four day BCW! Airfare and hotels alone for that kind of trip would be at least $2000. Maybe more. The itinerary includes lots of traveling within the country (plane and train) that is covered by the fee-- otherwise this would be another $1000 - $1500 easily. Meals are included. It also looks like we get access to places that would otherwise be very difficult to get in, such as Benesse House, and the bath hotel in Noboribetsu. And the events and dinner with Aki... stuff that "money can't buy." $5000 is definitely worth the cost. I am there! :)

I would seriously consider this one Bryce. I really regret missing the IFF trips to Jamaica and the Bond cruise. This just sound too good to pass up.

Besides, Bryce and zencat loose in Toyko...imagine the possibilities. :)

I hate being poor student / instructor. Have I shared that with you lately.

And I can't get published because some freak in the south country claims to own my work.

I think I am going to go kill myself now.

G....you best be saving up for that inevitable call to help with the bail money. :)

And before a certain double-oh says "They'd have to catch me first" let's remember, in Japan, you would stand out completely.

So I should hold off on any dvd binges until after the trip, eh? Hmm, I might have to find a different way to deal with rough days at the office. :)

Well....What can I say but....

She's IN.

Flicka has committed to a journey to the land of the Rising Sun.

We've both reserved our spots and plan to have our payment to the powers that be by the end of July.

She decided, given all the details, that this is truly a "once in a lifetime" trip - I agree given all the details and a final bit of encouragement from the great Mr. Benson.

Now, if they only get enough of us to pull it off, but (by my count) we're about halfway there now.

Expect many pics of Flicka in the cute snug little silk Kimono style dresses.

As she put it: "What's the point if you can't get that 'Saigon Hooker' look just right."

Gotta love her.

The prospect of myself and Zencat running wild is scary enough, but with Flicka in the mix - Hell, she'll probably end up scaling a pagoda half trashed on sake.

No....

Really....

:)

Well, that sort of goes hand in hand with the dvd binges, at least when I'm on the way to buy the dvds. :)

Good luck, Bryce. Hope to hear the entire sordid story when you guys get back. Unless of course it makes the evening news. Ah heck, tell it anyway even if it does! :)

Sorry Athena, but know this -

NO ONE ruins my vacation except ME!

and maybe Flicka or 004...

Possibly the local authorities...

But that's where I draw the line.
