Hmm.

A secret challenge. Could be just what the mole want's as an excuse to take away his/her heat...

The next mole may be among us. But will they be great, or will they fail in their task to rob us of a 50,000 prize.

Thanks to certain people, we have lost over 10,000 points already...

TEAM CHALLENGE FOUR

You will have read the oh so From Russia With Love prologue above. The secret player, chosen from among you, is to make the secret posts as outlined in the message above.

To catch him or her all any of you have to do is post "CAUGHT" directly after he or she makes one of the seven posts required. If a non-Mole player posts afterwards then this secret player has survived. If 4/7 or more can be posted without being caught then he or she will gain an exemption, and you will gain no points.

Figures. You are only allowed to make a team total 15 "CAUGHT" posts. You cannot simply post "CAUGHT" after every other player's every post on CBn for the next five days. To start with it would drive the moderator's crazy. Also, CAUGHT posts made by the Secret Player cannot count.

You do not need to catch the secret player every time, just the majority of the time. So 4/7 posts or more will gain you points and take away his/her exemption. By the final day you will want to have this player identified and be ready to pounce on the final three posts he/she needs to make. The point's table is as follows :

1/7 : 0 points (exemption to secret player)
2/7 : 0 points (exemption to secret player)
3/7 : 0 points (exemption to secret player)
4/7 : 10,000 points
5/7 : 12,000 points
6/7 : 15,000 points
7/7 : 20,000 points

There is a lot on offer if this is played right. You have until the beginning of the hunt to figure out a strategy.

Good hunting,

mb

Whew: 20,000 points up for grabs this time (and lord knows we need them!)

Don't suppose we could strike a deal with the person and win 20,000 for the team by letting us 'catch' them?

Nahh, I imagine they're just out for themselves and their exemption, just like TRS and his doublecross...

How many words in the dictionary; and we have to find a common one amongs this person posts, be fast enough to reply 'cought' and hope we get it right less than 15 times or we will lose.

Some stacked odds there; and what will the mole be up to? Is it perhaps one and the same person?!

Argh!

Wow, another impossible challenge.

That fact that we have to post it straight after is what makes it stupid, and 4 times, we don't have a chance in hell.

Just give them the exemption now, save time.

Nahh, I imagine they're just out for themselves and their exemption, just like TRS and his doublecross...

Not quite sure what you mean by doublecross, but there was an exemption to be had and I took it, as Matt had PM'd me (and possibly others) and asked for proof if anyone asked for help in exchange for an exemption. Who among us wouldn't have done the same thing and why did someone ask for help, knowing full well they risked ruining the challenge for everyone?

Tell ya what, here's an idea: Let's all refrain from posting at all, on 3/16/04, except for the XXX (who has to). Then we'll know who XXX is.

Obviously some of you have already posted your defeat in this round and should not be called upon to rally the team to a strategy of actually winning something.

Might I suggest those of faint heart not reply to the Mole quiz later this week and enjoy a nice .gif and say goodbye.

See, that's the sad part. If I try too hard, people are suspicious. If I play like last time, people are suspicious. Dammed if I do, dammed if I don't.

Although, I will say--I was right all along with MILT in the crossword challenge.

OK trs, i'll help join the dots.

You recieve PM asking for evidence (possible exemption).

You also found a puppy (possible exemption).

The team could have had 5,000 points...

You PMed me to make sure I would vote 'no' (if I had switched to a 'yes' it would have been 50/50 split...who knows where that would have gone) then promptly sent the evidence to matt so you would be the only one with an exemption and the team still wouldn't get 5,000 points.

That's a fookin doublecross and you know it.

As for not posting, fat chance of that: querty is a mole player and he posts over 50000 posts a day. An habitual spammer suddenly has to not post for 5 days in a row. Sure that's going to happen...and what about people who 'forget' such as the mole who probably wants to help this person succeed in losing the team more points.

There's no way we will win this challenge, like fraternal said: might as well hand the exemption over now and save the pathetic week.

SnakeEyes, um 50000? Right. And do not ever call me a spammer again. I post often in the quote games with others, it's not spam.

If everyone here comes to some decisions, we'll all talk to see where to go to next.

Ah how the mole must be smiling just now. This is exactly what he wants - to have us defeated before we've even got off our feet. Lets rally some of that team spirit together and keep your negative comments where they belong, behind the monitor and off the keyboard!

Come on guys, we haven't had THAT rough a start! Lets work together and show the Mole that he/she is wrong! I think it's time for the Mole to suffer a defeat, agreed?

Right, to business. What do we have to go on? Well...

Matt has probably made the word slightly less every-day, so look out for something out of place. Look for sentences that are convoluted to accomodate a particular word, or anything that doesn't fit in with the theme of the forum or post.

Also, as Qwerty suggested, it appears to be a certain length.

Also, we know exactly where to look this time. One of us will be posting in all these forums so look out for one of the remaining contestants doing so.

This WILL require us to work together. If we work together we can pass the challenge, if not, then we fail. However, whilst it may seem like we have an impossible challenge, the contestant has an equally hard challenge.

We can do this!

Also, stop the in-fighting. It isn't helping with morale. What's done is done.

EDIT: Oh yes, and I am in favour of trs007's plan. I will not be posting over the next few days apart from the obligatory 'CAUGHT' messages.

Use the search facility well.

I would be in favour of the plan too if I didn't fear some people will not read this in time and it will all be for naught. If everyone has replied by the time XXX is activated then we can be assure of no mistakes. Otherwise, well we might as well post as normal and hope for the best. (Tracking common words that look out of place will probably be an easier task, however I wouldn't wish that on a broke dick dog.)

We can't post caught all the time else our 15 tries will be finished quicker than 2 days worth of posts...

Also, it's quite possible the person will post dummy posts not containing the tag word. So we will have to be freaking sure of what word to get before bagging them and also make sure to be the first reply.

What's done may be done, Brix, but some more is about to be done a whole lot more!
