I just purchased, though it was difficult

For Special Services
Nobody Lives Forever
Win, Lose or Die
No Deals, Mr. Bond
Icebreaker
Seafire

I was wondering which I sould read, maybe if you had time give me a 1-5 star rating on each. Thanks.

P.S. what other ones should I buy?

Icebreaker was the best by far! :)

I've read Gardner's:
For Special Services
Nobody Lives Forever
Licence Renewed
Brokenclaw
No Deals Mr. Bond
Licence to kill

Of what I've read, I rate Nobody Lives Forever as John Gardner's best Bond novel.

P.S. what other ones should I buy?

I would say that Licence Renewed and Role of Honour are the best of the ones that you haven't listed. I also quite liked Brokenclaw (I'm sure that Zencat will drop in to fly the flag for Brokenclaw when he sees this thread), but it's not everybodys cup of tea.

I've read them all, and Nobody Lives Forever, For Special Services and Icebreaker are three of his best, there are a lot of great ones...and some average ones too.

I've read them all also and feel that Nobody Lives Forever and Win Lose or Die arte the bset ofthe lot you picked up.

Quick anecdote re Win Lose or Die. I'm an attoreny and one day I had to wait around in a Courtroom until late afternoon to argue a motion. I had "W,L or D" with me I had read maybe 50 pages beofre I got there and then read the rest of it while I waited. It was great, I felt like I was watching a Bond movie.

I like For Special Service because it's most like a Bond movie. Icebreaker is also good...but it's more classic espionage. Guess it's a matter of taste.

I've read almost all (except for the last two....... which I am reading now)

.......Icebreaker is by far the best.......

........followed closely (imo), by Win, Lose or Die
