You know what I find funny? With other novels, I'm usually good with everything up until the ultimate resolution and that's where I have to seriously think hard about what I'm writing. With mysteries, I'm having issues writing jack squat until I manage to get my detective to the scene. Might just start writing there and work on an intro later, if my brain will allow it, which I doubt it will. Oh well. Got a fun story planned at least. Made more fun by the fact that Ian, the detective, is basically all the insane parts of myself hyperbolized. *sigh* I wish I could write at night. Lately the muses only strike in the morning, when I'm stuck in school, and can't do diddly. Oh well. There's always the weekend.

I have just put a loaf in the oven. I will update when it comes out.

Edit: Just on the proving stage and it stuck to the tea towel. Bugger.

The paperwork finally went through today, so I get to leave school early almost every day. Not by a lot, but I get home at about 1:55 if I walk, 1:35 if I drive, and school normally gets out at 2:22. Got home today and flicked on the TV to discover I had left it on one of the 3 PBS stations last night. Hawaii Five-O was on. I so totally know how I'm spending every afternoon from now on.

guys, this is bad. really bad.

the westboro baptist church is coming to rancho bernardo high school.

monday, october 19th.

we talked about it in ap gov this morning.

my friend that sits in my group with me said they'd be here from 6:40-7:00 that morning before school starts, which is at 7:25.

when i go home tonight, on my own volition, i am going to say, "mom, can i talk to you?" i don't want to go to school that day, but if i do, i'll just do what my ap gov teacher told us to do: don't give them what they want and start yelling at them. just walk right past them.

yes, the media will be here.

here's their website, if you dare to look...

US Navy is apparently attempting to pawn off Sea Shadow "for free". Only known catch at this time is you must take the barge used to house it as well. Apparently if someone doesn't take it by the end of this year, 2009, the ship, which cost almost two hundred mil, will be scrapped. I'm afraid people aren't taking it up because it very probably isn't "for free". There's probably a bitchload of paperwork and other documentation one has to fill out for the government and a whole lot of other crap, but I cannot help but fantasize about it. I mean, it's a real freakin' stealth ship! I would turn into Carver in a heartbeat if I had this puppy.

According to wikipedia specs are as follows:

Type: Stealth ship
Displacement: 563 long tons (572 t)
Length: 164 ft (50 m)
Beam: 68 ft (21 m)
Draft: 15 ft (4.6 m)
Propulsion: Diesel-electric
Speed: 28 knots (52 km/h; 32 mph)
Complement: 4
Armament: None

Sea Shadow has a SWATH hull design. Below the water are submerged twin hulls, each with a propeller, aft stabilizer, and inboard hydrofoil. The portion of the ship above water is connected to the hulls via the two angled struts. The SWATH design helps the ship remain stable even in very rough water of up to sea state 6 (wave height of 18 feet (5.5 m) or "very rough" sea). The shape of the superstructure has sometimes been compared to the casemate of the ironclad ram CSS Virginia of the American Civil War.

The T-AGOS 19-and-23-class oceanographic ships have inherited the stabilizer and canard method to help perform their stability-sensitive surveillance missions.

Sea Shadow has only 12 bunks aboard, one small microwave oven, a refrigerator and table. It was never intended to be mission capable and was never commissioned, although she is listed in the Naval Vessel Register.

I am drooling at the impossible dream of having this. And I mean impossible. There's no chance in hell I could ever acquire this. But on the off chance someone here gets their hands on it...Can I be your henchman?

Hail Purdue
First Verse:
To Your Call Once More We Rally;
Alma Mater Hear Our Praise.
Where The Wabash Spreads Its Valley;
Filled With Joy Our Voices Raise.
From The Skies In Swelling Echoes
Come The Cheers That Tell The Tale
Of Your Vict'ries And Your Heros,
Hail Purdue! We Sing All Hail!
Chorus:
Hail, Hail To Old Purdue!
All Hail To Our Old Gold And Black!
Hail, Hail To Old Purdue!
Our Friendship May She Never Lack.
Ever Grateful, Ever True,
Thus We Raise Our Song Anew;
Of The Days We've Spent With You,
All Hail Our Own Purdue!
Second Verse:
When In After Years We're Turning,
Alma Mater, Back To You.
May Our Hearts With Love Be Yearning
For The Scenes Of Old Purdue.
Back Among Your Pathways Winding
Let Us Seek What Lies Before;
Fondest Hopes And Aims E'er Finding,
While We Sing Of Days Of Yore.

Third Verse:
Sung only by the band at special events
In the Band we March and Swagger
As we Play for Old Purdue
At the Halftime we do Shows
No other Band on Earth Could do
When we Cheer the Earth Will Tremble
For We're Known Throughout the Land
As the Best in Marching Music,
We're the Boilermaker Band
