My Dr. No Special Editon DVD plays the movie in fullscreen when it is supposed to be widescreen. Does your Dr. No DVD or any of the others do this?

Very odd for sure, none of mine have ever done this. I can only guess it being a defect ot some sort, or something else that I'm not aware of.

One DVD question that I also have. My GoldenEye DVD has the rating 'PG' on it, yet the film is rated 'PG-13'. My question is, why have they not fixed this on the newer prints. I have checked other GoldenEye DVD's in stores and they too have 'PG' as a rating. Just something I've wondered.

Take a closer look Righty, there are thin black bars "letterboxing" on the top and bottom...or at least there should be.

I have noticed this also. But I guess it's a plus for the children under 13 who want to see GoldenEye. :)

I just put the DVD in on my computer and it was widescreen. I'm almost positive the black bars wern't there on my television.

Righty, I may be able to offer you a couple of possible answers.

First, it may depend on your television. If it's a big wide screen, like 36 inches or more, it may transfer films to anamorphic widescreen automatically and you wouldn't see the bars and you aren't missing any of the picture.

Also, Dr. No, along with FRWL, GF, LALD and TMWTGG were filmed in 1:85 aspect ration as opposed to the rest, which were in 2:35, making it less of a widescreen scope than the rest of the series you may be used to.

Another thing may have been the generation of DVD you have. The very first Bond DVDs released had options for both widescreen and full-frame. I'm not sure if DN was among them, but you may want to check the menu very carefully.

I'm not sure if any of this will help, but I hope it works out for you.

earlier movies were not widescreen as they are now. My movies up to Thunderball (I think) are widescreen but anaphormic widescreen, not the 16x9 widescreen as the rest of my Bonds are!

oops I didnt read Turn's post. He is right the movies that have the 1:85 are the ones he mentioned, the rest of my Bond DVD's are 2:35. But non-the-less they are all widescreen!

For the Benelux and France: Dr No,FRWL,GF,LALD and TMWTGG are in 1:77:1 Anamorphic widescreen.
On the daf dvd it say 1:77:1 too,but it is 2:35:1 Anamorphic widescreen.

My tv is 4:3,but my normal dvdplayer have 3 option
