From Russia With Love was plagued by the same problems that Bond 20 is, and look how it turned out.

I was watching the documentary on FRWL on the DVD today, and that film was plagued with many of the same problems that Bond 20 is.

They were constantly doing rewrites witch changed the way the plot would play out, so Peter Hunt would have to change the way the sequences play out. Having to change all these sequences is what actually gave birth to the pre-credits sequence.

All I'm saying is FRWL had lots of rewrites, they had to redo some sturns that went wrong, and in the end, it turned out to be one of the best Bond films of all time.

Maybe the same thing will happen with Bond20.

Steam accepted Rolex :)

I won't comment on the similairites between FRWL and Bond 20. However, I will say after watching the DVD of FRWL I was absolutely amazed at how many problems FRWL encountered. Some were very sad. Some seemed almost like miracles as no one was hurt!

The difference between FRWL and Bond 20 is that although plagued with problems they had the book as a plot reference and as said earlier a good editor. I personally have grave concerns about the new movie, i am going to have a rant now, considering it's 3 years since they started shooting TWINE they do not even have a name for the movie! Jesus, it seems to me that without a Fleming novel or a title from his books they have struggled.
In the future, the producers should adapt Gardner’s novels, not that i have read any of them but at least the script/screenplay writers will have some type of plot they can develop from. Because we like Bond and the films we seem to pick out parts from the recent movies to justify our fandom from mediocre storylines. Lets be it's the 40th anniversary year, and they can't even give a title to the film! Would Cubby have let this happen if he was alive? He must be turning in his grave!
Sorry folks, i needed to let off steam!

Blues Eyes, from FRWL documentary the most problems they had were on production and postproduction of the film and not pre production and development as they had a book to work from. So where are the similarities? Then everyone was keen to get FRWL on to the screen because of Dr No success, for this movie they have had 3 years and as far as I have read there has been a lot of indecision. So much for leadership by Michael Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, you will also note from the documentaries that Cubby Broccoli response to pre production issues was to make decisions quickly and make himself responsible if they were wrong.
Sorry I am a bit of a roll here, got to calm down

If there's one thing I've learned, having had fatherhood thrust upon me at an early age (albeit a little less thrust would have meant it would not have happened...titter) is that what a troublesome child really needs is understanding and support.

Fine, so Bond 20's presently got all the direction of a whirling dervish with tourette's syndrome, but that doesn't mean we can't love it. I'm sure it'll work out just fine. Rome wasn't built in a day, et cetera. I know this may sound a bit "be positive", which I also know makes me a crushing hypocrite, but, hey, calm down.

"Just keep saying to yourself; it's only a movie, it's only a movie".

I know it's more than just A. N. Other film, and I wouldn't be posting to these boards if I really, truly felt that. But, ultimately, it'll turn up, we'll either love it or hate it and it'll be there. Never fear.

Yeah I watched that doco and its really interesting, all the problems that they had and how they still made a gem of a movie. I like all the little tricks they did, like running some Rosa Klleb footage backwards, that was cool.

Still, didn't TND have script rewriting problems as well, so I guess having setbacks doesn't necessarily mean a brilliant movie, but Bond 20 looks like being a great film though, fingers crossed. :)

Even GOLDFINGER had major changes to it's script during filming. Originally the caper was going to stop at the gates of Fort Knox, but Cubby decided he wanted to enter it and see a 'cathedral of gold'...and then some bright spark concocted the brilliant caper with the 'atomic device'. Both became turning points in the history of Bond.
Don't worry about Bond 20....everything is going to be fine...no, better than that...fantastic !!.

The editing in FRWL really highlighted what a talent Peter Hunt was at his craft.
