Christmas Eve Movie
Diamonds Are Forever
8.30pm - 10.50pm | TEN
(M) Action (1971)

When sent to investigate a simple diamond smuggling operation, James Bond becomes swept up in a quest for revenge when the ring-leader turns out to be none other than Blofeld - the man responsible for killing Bond's wife. While pursued by two deadly assassins and wooed by a beautiful smuggler, Bond desperately tries to put an end to Blofeld and his plans - permanently.

I'd have thought On Her Majesty's Secret Service would be more in the spirit, but beggers can't be choosers.

I do always watch On Her Majesty's Secret Service, amongst the thousand other times in the year (!) :) around Christmas time, but I don't think I've ever seen it on Christmas Eve. Last year, I saw a bit of You Only Live Twice on TV, perhaps this year, if there's time, I'll pop in the DVD!

It has a definite Christmas feel to it! On Her Majesty’s Secret Service that is!

I wish Do you know how Christmas trees are grown? was played along with all that other Christmas music.

Yes, OHMSS is certainly the most Christmassy Bond film there is: the only one where somebody wishes Bond 'merry Christmas'.

I can't stand watching a Bond on television any more. They usually show them in 1:66 which really spoils the whole atmosphere of the movies. Also there's usually more adverts because it's a Bond.

I'll slap in a Bond DVD when the family's taking crap and blast em out of the house!. LOL.

Cheers,

Ian

In the commercials for it do they have a sexy female voice purring:

"Darling. For Christmas, it's diamonds since diamonds are forever."

like on the cool Christmas teaser among the DAF DVD extras.

Interesting review of the film in our local paper...

Diamonds are Forever
Ten 8:30pm
THIS is possibly the greatest Bond movie of them all, featuring the greatest Bond star. Superspy James Bond aka Sean Connery (pictured, that Never Say Never Again shot) gets tangled up in the world of international diamond smuggling. His mission: Locate the Las Vegas jewel thieves while looking as sexy as possible and don't let something like a nuclear armageddon get in your way. Look for the car chase down a narrow alley. ****

The greatest Bond movie of them all??? Surely this reviewer is an army of one in his opinion of the movie.

How much of a hard-on do 10 have for this movie, it is like the 3rd time in 3 months they have shown it.
