Hi, out there. I posted this one before, just to warn.
During the process of oming uo with a story for Dalton's first Bond film, A treatment called TWINE was written, as a prequel of sorts for the series. Anyone got any more info on this one out there?

I've heard of this. Richard Maibaum or Michael Wilson did a treatment showing Bond on his first assignment, but Cubby Broccoli rejected it by saying nobody wants to see Bond making mistakes. No other details are available on it.
I don't think Dalton played into it at all, though, considering he wasn't cast until the last minute.

As far as I know, the movie was never given a title.
The treatment detailed Bond's roots and presumably how he became a spy. But Cubby objected saying no-one wanted to see Bond's origins, which, I'd agree is true.
This was to be made in place of The Living Daylights.

This is news to me. Where did you get this information? Glad they made TLD though.

On one of the DVDs (Pretty sure it's TLD) they say they were intending on showing Bonds origins for the next film but, as said, Cubby basically loled at the idea.
Thank god really, or we might have had to suffer the same mistake making fool Bond that they have forced on us for the last couple of films.
AFAIK there was no title. They don't mention there was any title.

I think they TALKED about doing a prequel to the series and Cubby rightly so said the audience wasn't interested in an amatuer Bond, they wanted a man of experience and a world wide experence to him.

I seem to remember that the origin idea was written before Dalton was cast. Dalton looked to old to play a young James Bond. Maybe Alex is talking about something else.
About the origin treatment; maybe 'Casino Royale' was used as a source for material. It's perfect for a 'James Bond Year One' feature. Still, I doubt it will happen in the future. Not just because it probably wouldn't work (maybe as a television series), but also because EON wants to respect Broccoli's wishes.

I have a bad feeling about this.
They could call it The Phantom Moonraker!

What I heard was that Cubby rejected the idea, but still wanted a Bond which had links to the book series. Smiet Spionet (?) was Smersh, which was taken from almost all the Flemming novels. Also, the girl as the snipper (Kara) was taken from a book, which was in response to The Spy who loved me, Moonraker and A view to a kill, which took almost nothing from their namesakes
