SPLIT from .this thread.

Filming in real exotic, beautiful and interesting locations around the world is what used to differentiate 007 from the run-of-the-mill action film.

I vote for more, not less, travelogue.

Yes, yes, YES!

This is one of the reasons I enjoy (enjoyed :)) the recent books more than the recent films. Raymond Benson seems (seemed :)) to really understand the travelogue aspect of Bond. Unlike Eon, he mixes in the culture. Read The Man With The Red Tattoo and take a great trip to Japan, James Bond-style.

I have all the Flemings as well as all the Benson continuation novels. I know what you mean, Zencat. High Time To Kill is my favourite Benson. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it a few years ago. It was a sensory treat.:)

Ha;) I've never met Raymond Benson. So I can't honestly say that I "like" or "dislike" him.:)

I have, however, enjoyed much of his James Bond work. (Esp. 'Zero, 'High Time, Never Dream Of Dying, and 'Tattoo)

The only thing i like about him, other than his writings, is that he's had access to the Playboy Mansion in Chicago and hung out with some very curvy and sensuous young things which, come to think of it, makes me slightly green with envy. (Oooo....):)

Have you ever read his 007 short story "Midsummer Nights Doom"? It's set in the LA Playboy mansion and features two real-life playmates. Not really one of his best works, but it is cool to see Bond at The Mansion.

I'm a bit green myself.

I heard all about it some years ago (ditto "Blast From The Past") but have not been able to get my hands on that, or any other, short story.

I wonder if he indulged in any of the pleasures afforded to him by H.H. (btw, I have seen a photograph of Ray with the two delicious things. Bastard!):)

Now that I am reading Fleming for the first time, and not just the novels, but anything else of his I can get my hands on, I am really enjoying how he understood travel through the eyes of the tourist.

I tell you, folks in my line of work are missing a lot when they walk away from Fleming because they think he is a mysogynist.

Yes. THAT one!:)

Ray should have played around with the words of his Bond work and called his short:

Midsummer Night's Blast

or

DoubleBlast

or

DoubleCumShot;)

How yummy!

Careful, Sensualist. Remember what I said about the kiddies. I know you can exercise better, um, control. :)

Sensualist finds such things extremely hard to control. :)

Sensualist apologises to the kiddies on the forums, again.

Sensualist making arrangements with a Sub to swallow Sensualist's pride.:)

Right on Zencat! I of course agree with all travelogue aspects of Bond. And especially when a Bond Girl is the travel mate. :)

Hi,
I have traveled ten days with Raymonds in 2000 during the researches for NDOD.
I can tell you Raymond is a great travel companion! We laughed so much together during this trip.
I wrote an article about that trip but it is only in french.
May be I will find someone to translate it in english a day.
And I can tell you Ray has often go to Playboy Mansion. He knows well HH.
Ray is a Playboy fan. If you give him the name of a playmate he can tell you in wich issue(s) of wich year(s) she appears.
And if you ask him: Wich playmate is centerfold of this month of this or that year(from the beginning of Playboy to now), he can tell you immediately the name of the girl!!
Amazing!!

On the contrary, what is there **not** to be proud of?:)

To be able to remember all those facts and figures (:)). A memory like that ought to be a matter of pride.

I wonder if he got to taste the succulent fruits of life on those multiple occasions....:)

Raymond Benson taking part in orgies at the Playboy Mansion? Now my mind is boggling!
