Did Cary Grant actually make a really bad movie? I honestly can't remember. Anyway my favourite CG films (in no particular order):
  • North By Northwest - simply a classic
  • Arsenic & Old Lace - simply hilarious
  • Charade - simply wonderful
  • Father Goose - simply heart warming
  • Walk Don't Run - simply underrated (and not only CG's last film but not mentioned yet in anyone else's list which I find surprising)

I seen a version [theatrical] of Arsenic & Old Lace earlier this year and sorry to offend any1, but it was one of the worst things I have ever sat through. Too many characters and too often these characters making no sense whatsever and the usual mistake actors make on a stage and that is; THEY ARE NOT LISTENING TO EACH OTHER.

Yes he did unfortunatley... It was called Bringing Up Baby.

And I have to agree with you.. Walk Don't Run is rather underrated.

I don't Bringing Up Baby was that bad...however People Will Talk, is, and so is Suspicion, because the director messed up in the direction they gave Grant.

I rather enjoyed Suspicion, but I can see where some people may not be too fond of it, but I have to say in defense of the picture, that I doubt Alfred Hitchcock messed up while directing that movie. :)

*cough* *cough* Excuse me? Bringing Up Baby a "bad movie"??? Well to each his own of course but that's considered one of the best screwball comedies ever made and I agree. I love that movie and Grant is hilarious!!

My favorite Cary movies:

1. Holiday
2. People Will Talk (wonderful film!!!)
3. Talk of the Town (Grant gloriously paired with the wonderful Ronald Colman and Gene Arthur; he plays an anarchist!)
4. My Favorite Wife
5. North by Northwest
6. Notorious
7. An Affair to Remember
8. Indiscreet
9. The Philadelphia Story
10. The Grass is Greener
11. Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House
12. Charade

There are several more I love: I Was a Male War Bride, Arsenic & Old Lace, Suspicion, Penny Serenade, To Catch a Thief, The Bachelor & the Bobby Soxer, Operation Petticoat...

Oops, how could I forget my absolute favorite Cary Grant film??? I should put it in the #1 spot:

HIS GIRL FRIDAY - total brilliance! No other film has matched its fast and furious witty repartee. He and Roz Russell were perfect together.

From Kingdom Come:

:) :) Oh brother. You missed the entire point of the play, didn't you? The *entire point* of Arsenic and Old Lace is that it's a black comedy that's fast and furious with people who are *supposed* to talk incredibly fast, over each other. That's what's so funny and smart about it. The play requires you to pay close attention. I guess you'd better stick to films where things are spelled out more slowly for you.

You are right...Hitchcox didn't...but the producers did because they couldn't decide if they wanted Grant's character to be a good guy or a bad guy.

(And that is all I can say without giving the movie away.)

Thank u Jaelle! I have to say I am not alone. Dreadful play - not a good line anywhere - that character running up and down the stairs shouting "Tally ho" or whatever it was - yes, truely hilarious!
