For the US MGM/UA 1999/2000 VHS releases of The Man With The Golden Gun and Octopussy, there are (2) different covers it seems.

The Man With The Golden Gun:
1st- Bond aiming a gun, and in backround, Bond attacking a ninja at the training school.
2nd- Bond holding a gun, and in backround, Scaramanga's lair exploding.

Octopussy:
1st- Bond holding a gun, and in backround, a helicoptor, the Monsoon palace and an explosion.
2nd- Bond aiming a gun, and in backround, a train and two helicoptors.

Just wondering, What's the deal? Why only for these two movies and why have them at all?

If you can shed any light on this, please do!

I have pics of both "alternative" ones somewhere, will post them if I can find them.

Actually, I seem to recall different VHS covers for the whole Moore era (except LALD). Most were better than the ones used in more recent releases.

Edit - In response to the actually question, I have no idea what the deal is

who notice that they pasted that cover together from other pics..

BUT the hand holding the gun was brand new and not Roger's (or even on the other 007 actors.. they used new photos of hands holding the gun..NOT of any of the actors..)

:)

Strangely, the US DVD site shows the alternate art for the DVD. It's an error [you can see the image on the spine is the same], but curious nonetheless.

Thanks very much both The Cheat and [dark]. Those are the covers I'm talking about. I wonder if they were for promotional purposes, but that doesn't explain why they are both out on the market to buy. Quite odd.

Funny you say that The Cheat! That is how I had discovered the one for Octopussy! I had seen it about a year ago, and I finally realized I had never asked about it on CBn. (I also had seen it in a Blockbuster.)
