Lucas had asked Spielberg to do a commentary, but Spielberg gave a definitive "NO'"...It is well known that Spielberg does not believe in commentaries for his movies and refuses to do them but you would think Lucas would be able to get someone else on the creative team to join him at the microphone to record at least one commentary!

The 10-minute featurette that goes with the "Best Buy" purchase is a lot of fun. I think I saw it when RAIDERS was first out but there is a lot of neat behind the scenes stuff. Also there is a snippet of the original sword vs. whip fight scene...Good stuff.

Also notable in the feature length doc that Spielberg admits on camera that he always wanted to do a James Bond movie!!

Nope....not all night because I just watched the feature length documentary on the trilogy and then some of the featurettes. Yesterday was a day that had been a long time in coming. After a number of discouraging announcements (such as the one where LucasFilm said they were not going to release their movies on DVD) back in the early black days of DVD it was nice to see them finally arrive.

Reading the list of extras for this box set I have to admit I'm really disappointed.

Are any of the documentries actually worth it? I have to admit to preferring deleted scenes to the other extras you are sometimes lucky to find.

The feature length documentary is really excellent Daniel, I think it's probably one of the best docs I have ever seen on a DVD and relentless viewing.
It's a shame though that the deleted scene on the whip vs sword fight was not included (although part of it it is shown on the Best Buy doc).

Not to mention in the two hour documentary, you do get to see parts of some deleted scenes such as Sallah's execution and loads of behind the scenes stuff that I had not seen anywhere. I was rather disappointed that they did not include the Great Movie Stunts & the Making of Raiders of the Lost Ark specials and the Making of Temple of Doom that was on PBS back in 1984, but then again I would just love to sit through a 6 hour documentary and love every minute of it!

How can you be dissappointed when you get a 2 hour plus documentary as well as a slew of other featurettes. :)

Indiana Jones has returned with a bang........

LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - "The Adventures of Indiana Jones -- The Complete DVD Movie Collection" appears to be on the road to becoming the best-selling box set of a catalogue film franchise in DVD history.

It sold about 600,000 copies in the U.S on Tuesday -- during its first day in retail release -- according to industry estimates.

Considering the average $46 (27 pounds) price tag at most online shops and at brick-and-mortar stores, total consumer spending on the four-disc box set is estimated to have generated upwards of $28 million (14 million pounds) within the first 24 hours on store shelves.

Great news IndyB007, it shows the interest in Indiana Jones is as high as ever.
