I get the drift and agree. Apted also could have done a better job editing the scene, which is something he would have been directly responsible for.
However I think hiring Apted was a good idea. While the action sequences overall lacked some edge, except for the boat chase, the film functions very well as a drama and I appreciate that more in a Bond film.

I think romantically speaking, the carriage ride in the snow from FYEO is perfect. Honorable mention goes "Nothing to declare" from TLD.
In terms of chases, the levels of daring and skill were never matched by the original in OHMSS. It is simply amazing to watch. That being said, the tension in the TWINE snow chase is almost as good.

It could have had tension if the editing had been tighter, the music better and the direction a little more steady.
Nothing against Brosnan or Marceau who do a good job with what they are given but the TWINE sequence lacks tension, drive or punch and is just another example of how Vic Armstrong (with the exception of the boat chase) has mastered the art of making an action sequence so blah!
They really should have picked up the phone and asked Willy Bogner to return to the fold.
