I object to casting the likes of Hugh Jackman, Colin Firth, etc. They all seem too much like Roger Moore, and I don't think that the time is right for that sort of actor.

My personal favorite is Rufus Sewell. He's 36 years old now, so he will be just about the perfect age when they begin filming Bond 22. I saw him in a production of Hamlet and I feel that he has the darkness of Dalton as well as Connery's charisma. He is also able to pull off comic subtleties and would have no problem with the witticisms.

A picture of Sewell:

Good god no! He's an ugly Motherf***er!! He has giant insect size eyeballs... that would end the series for good. :)

I don't think so... Clive Owen is way uglier, from the pics I've seen. I think he's one of the more comely candidates for the role, not that it's saying a whole lot. Just about everybody else looks like a gawky dork or a pock-marked thug. I mean, come on... Ralph Fiennes? Dougray Scott? Clive Roberston? They lose out to Roger Moore at his nadir.

Insect size eyeballs? Pfft.

I guess I picked an unpopular contender. Sewell isn't even on the list of guys to vote for. Probably end up with Hugh Jackman, the "people's" Bond. What an adonis!

Good call Pussfeller. Reminds me a bit of a young Ian McShane, which is great, because I'd like the next 007 to look like more of an action man and less like a catalogue model.
Let's have a younger Brit actor who can come over as a bit dangerouse in that Dalton/Connery way.

It will be a cold day in hell before someone named Rufus becomes Bond. You can have your Hughs, you can even put Charlie Sheen in there, but no ****ing Rufus!

Surely no worse than Pierce? :)
Now there's a milksop name if ever I heard one, but loads of people think he's worked out ok as Bond.

Pierce is way the hell better than Rufus. Rufus sounds like a name for a dog.

He'd make a good villain, but I can't see him as Bond. Have you heard any of the audio books he's read (I've only heard Dr. No)?

His voice is way too husky and I struggled to listen to it all the way through. He was good in A Knights Tale, though, so he's certainly a good actor and would make an interesting tycoon-type villain.

Wow, I never realized the likeness until you mentioned it. Yes he does very much look like Ian McShane when he was younger. I would say about the time of The Battle of Britain. Haven't seen him in enough films to know if he would be a good James Bond. I have only seen him in Dark City and A Knight's Tale.

Seems Sewell is in the cast of the forthcoming LEGEND OF ZORRO, directed by a certain Mr Campbell. Hmmm....

Sewell could work as Quiller. Bit too intense for Bond, I think.

Well, if they were looking at Daniel Craig (and it seems they were, although it's anyone's guess as to who "they" might be - Eon people or Sony people), as well as that cross between Matt LeBlanc and Kevin Spacey with the enormous forehead and receding hairline, and Dougray Scott, I don't see why they wouldn't have considered Sewell.

Sewell seems like a reasonable enough candidate. Hardly a shoe-in though.

I think Sewell could actually work well--a nice left of the field option.

I used to think he would be good, but for the ladies I don't think he is attractive enough.

I'd like to see Rufus Sewell get the role as I'm not to keen on D.C, C.O or H.J.
